Power Steering and Lanesense Errors

Loving my 2020 Laramie Longhorn 2500 until...Three weeks ago intermittently a warning would come on reading that lanesense and auto high beams are unavailable and need service, then shorty thereafter the power steering service light would come on and display, service power steering. After a few minutes this would go away. Brought it into the dealer - three weeks of piddling and they supposedly noted debris in a connection, replaced the power steering control module and reinstalled the clock spring. Got her back last night, worked fine until today when driving (after 80 miles or so) the same thing happened, but then went away. I'm going to wait until it becomes more consistent as an error to bring it back in, and have contacted Mopar directly, but has anyone else had this type of problem? Thanks

Its now 9 days later and the problems are much more consistent: Now my power steering goes completely out intermittently! Usually happens when I shut her down with the service light on. Upon re-starting, no power steering for several minutes, then is just comes all back. The error is happening much more frequently now. I have it scheduled to go to a different dealer 'cause I really didn't have a good experience with the dealer where I purchased the truck.

Had my share of electro gremlins but nuthn like that. Interesting bit about the clock spring, tho cuz scuttlebutt was that they'd gone to a RF system for the steering wheel switches. Let us know how ya make out long term. And... welcome to HDRams!

I apologize for the trouble, @KTulip. It sounds like you were already able to get in touch with our customer care teams regarding your situation, however, we are just a private message away and we are more than happy to look into this further if needed!

Tech told me the "clockspring" is an electronic module when I had an issue. Also said there were 350+ on parts BO at the time.

So far, my problem hasn't resurfaced but I also disconnected an iDrive and just haven't found the time to try it again.

Update from the current dealership looking at the truck - forman is involved and the "strange because the wiring schematics from the factory are all for the 6.4L gas engine, and not updated for the diesel. I think thats part of the issue" Keeping my fingers crossed they can figure it out.

Here we are another month later. Truck is still in the shop with the shop foreman working with FCA engineers to diagnose and fix. I was told they can't figure out what is wrong, have replaced several parts (connectors etc.), but the problem persists and have to wait on direction from FCA engineers. Have been in communication with Jen at RamCares, and have requested this move up to dispute resolution. I have not had my brand new truck for 8 weeks, they have been driving it to attempt to find the error/fix, it is depreciating and I'm stuck driving a rental. I actually use the truck as a truck and am getting a bit peeved. Tempted to buy another brand despite being a loyal Ram owner (had a 2004 2500, 2013 1500, 2016 2500 and now this lemon. Do I dare jump ship for a GMC?

Wow that experience really sucks! I see clock spring issue up there. I had an air bag warning light that was coming on and they replaced the clock spring and all has been fine for last month. I am on my 3rd Ram and would not switch brands but I would seriously figure out if you can go after the lemon law and get out of that truck.

Finally got my truck back and it’s fixed - so far! Took nearly 90 days to identify a faulty wiring harness. FCA did right and has approved taking care of my payments for the three months. Last week I went ahead and put new tires on her - falling in love all over again.

Awesome, congrats on the fix and the fact that they covered your payments while she was at the dealer!

Great news, what tire size did ya go with, looks great

Put the Toyo Open Country AT3 35s. They look great, but are just a bit louder. Much better handling than the factory Firestone’s it came with

35X12.50 or a metric size? Do you know what width our factory 20s are by a chance?
