Power Folding Tow Mirrors ... Deep Dive.

If you take delivery of a 2500 WITHOUT Power Folding Tow Mirrors due to the Global Parts Shortage, can you add it in later? Is it a motor issue? Wiring Issue? Module issue?

I mean... it could be as simple as "we can't get motors so we'll ship without it but it's too much trouble to delete all of the other necessary components."
 
I'm sure you will be able to add it later just like adding it to a 4th gen that did not come with it. Question is, what is the missing part(s). Door module? Motor in the mirror? Switch? all of the above? Did they include the wiring or are you going to have to add that? Someone is going to have to pull their door panel and look around and see what is there. Compare module parts numbers etc.

Could get very expensive real quick if you have to add all that stuff. I would also assume you'll need to program that function into the BCM as well (alfaOBD?)

Agreed. Could be a pain-in-the-ass ....... However I was wondering if any of us happends to know a RAM engineer that might be able to chime in .....
 
BTW .... "MtnRider" .... Bicycle or Motorcycle ?

Folding mirrors

When I bought my '20 Laramie 5500, I was under the impression the mirrors power folded. It said "power mirrors folding". I was wrong, it really said "power mirrors, folding" (paraphrasing), meaning the glass in the mirrors is power, but they do not fold with power, the fold manually. Anyway...

The tow mirrors are the same plugs if you get regular power folding mirrors then the towing mirrors are a direct replacement from what the dealer states

^ There you go. Jimmy07 chimed in on that thread and he would know more then anyone. Sounds like you just need to purchase all the parts and enable it like I was thinking. Not going to be cheap though, the mirrors alone are ridiculous....

Lol, we are the same age and I still do ride, just not as much. It's more time and places to ride these day then it is age. I was still road racing up until a couple years ago but having kids late in life most of my focus is on them for now.

Road Racing !??! You're braver than I am ..... It's bad enough that I could Sonny Bono myself OFF the roads let alone tangling with a 2-ton vehicle driven by someone who thinks I have no right to be on the road .... :confused:
 
OK. First of all I'd like to give props to Jimmy07 for making this possible. Absolutely could not have pulled this off without him.

Dealer confirmed that adding the "power fold" sales code is easy and they are happy to help and it looks like they may give me a credit for the factory installed parts as well as do the swap for me upon delivery.

May seem like a lot but these things stick out like Alfred E. Neumans ears so I NEED to be able to fold them in on the daily to get it in my garage.
