Poor A/C Air Flow

2022 Ram 2500 6.4L Hemi

I bought this truck 2 weeks ago.

The air flow from my a/c vents was so poor.

I removed the air filter behind the glove box and the air flow was tremendous.

I wanted a filter, though, to protect the system.

I took a cheaper filter for my home a/c system (HDX brand FPR5 Home Depot) and cut out the exact size of the original.

Removed all cardboard and was sure to tuck it into the filter compartment nice and flat and even.

I now have hurricane force winds, with reasonable filter protection!

Save the old truck filter, just in case. Save the remainder of the home filter to make 3 more filters in the future if I need them.

You can go with a higher FPR or MERV rating, but it will restrict more of the air flow, the higher the number.

My filter was about 8”x9” so I recommend 20x20x1 for the home filter, to get 4 filters. Cheap!

I left the filter out much better, gotta clean the dust on the dash a bit more often but no other negative effects

I created a 3D printed "filter". Its more of a mesh to catch large debris to protect the equipment. It allows great flow and protection.

I'm working on one with micro vortex funnels to capture dust and allow max air flow. They sell something like this for air filter boxes in extreme off road engines. They have vortex funnels on the air box to pre filter dust and dump it out of the air stream.

Care to share the files for these "filters"?

Is this the "Cabin Air Filter" the dealer replaced at my last oil change? What "system" or "equipment" is being protected by this filter.
