Hey folks, I have a 2023 Laramie that is being built and have been reading all the threads here. From what I have read on the UConnect 5 with the 12" screen, it seems to be a total disaster. I don't know if I am only reading about the 2 - 3 % of people with issues. or if the majority of you are having issues. Can you sound off below if you ARE or ARE NOT having issues? I wish I know how to do a poll because that would be cool. But more than anything, I wonder if I am just waiting for a headache to be delivered to me.
 
22 Ltd Longhorn 2500 with 12" screen. No issues except the you never know what screen is going to come up when you start the truck thing. But I'm used to that, just hit the home button. Oh, if you use USB drives for music, there are some quirks. Formatting in Fat32 seems to help there.
 
I've only had a few minor issues. I figure to be expected with this much technology. Overall I've been very happy and 98% of the stuff works 98% of the time.
 
22 Limited. When I got my truck in July I had a few issues like presets resetting and had a black screen once but no problems since about Sept.
 
I got my truck July 22. For the next few months everything rolled along fairly well with only a couple of minor glitches, nothing worse than my previous ford truck. About 5 weeks ago, my screen blacked out for no apparent reason. After some 40 minutes or so it came back unexpectedly. when it was off, the temperature controls and other push button functions were working on the screen and reversing camera was working but nothing else. About 3 weeks ago the screen stopped again but this time nothing worked at all. Multiple restarts and shut downs did nothing. After about an hour it just came back. Since then car play drops in and out at any time, sometimes it comes back and sometimes not until a complete shutdown of the car. Radio presets disappear randomly. Screen functions change randomly. Preset seat programmed positions are no longer available???? I have done a complete factory reset and full reprogram but at this time nothing has changed.
my software version is my22.s21b5. The vin number search says it is up to date. The ram service agent says they have no update for my car. I see in this thread that other members have higher software versions than mine already. Are they just trying to solve most major problems before they shove something out there? Have I bought a giant lemon here? Any ideas will be appreciated. I have connected to wifi many times but it just says “Connected” and nothing else so I have no idea if it is trying to do an update or not.

That software is not the latest version. The Uconnect vin search does not work! Version S26-17 was release and is only available OTA (Over The Air). I had similar issues to what you are experiencing when I was on S22 the S24 install made a difference in my situation. Once I updated to S24 the OTA updates started working. "Ram service agent says they have no update for my car" I find some agents are good and some are clueless.

Hi. Thanks for your help on this. I am away on holidays at the moment but back home Monday unfortunately. I will give this a try and hopefully it may help with my problem. What I can’t understand is why it changed so suddenly from ok with a couple of minor bugs to a complete mess. I haven’t loaded anything, I don’t stream anything. I hadn’t made any param changes on anything for weeks before the first black screen which seems to have been the start of the ever growing list of problems.
the only thing I can think of is the car is connected by wifi to my home wifi when it is parked. I wonder if it has been doing an on air update without my knowledge and I have switched off or moved the car part way through an update??? I will let you know what happens after the update

Hi, I took the truck in last week and they would not update it to the version you sent me. They upgraded the software for the DSM, not sure what that is. They then upgraded the audio unit to S21c.6. I offered to give them my usb with the download you sent but they would not use it. It is now working moderately reliably but still not perfect, It switches screens itself sometimes. Waze works mostly but sometimes hangs up. It is way better than it was previously but not great with this software. I wonder if S24 would be compatible with the DSM software. I don't want to install your version only to find the versions are incompatible and the whole system gets screwed up. The dealer in australia are fairly new to RAM and they don't want to deviate from what the factory says. If I install S24 and it crashes in a heap, I think they will charge me to fix it up. Apparently they had lots of trouble doing the update last week. It took them a day and a half to get it all working again after many reloads and contact the factory in the states. I don't want to pay for their inexperience.

I did not realize that you were in Australia. I would not install the software I steered you to. Like you, I am not sure it would be compatible with a non-US truck. When my CarPlay quits, or I get a black screen I just do a soft reboot of the system. This is accomplished by pressing the on/off button for 10-15 seconds continuously.
