Please Post Payload Sticker from Driver's Door Jamb.

Well, I've never been more indecisive on a major decision. Ram, Chevy, Ford, they all have issues and they all gouge you to get a good looking truck (night edition, trail boss, tremor, anything with non-chrome bumpers...) in my opinion.

Despite the transmission issues on the chevy/gmc and I guess Ford too, I ordered a GMC 3500 SRW today. Probably the most chrome and blingiest truck of all. I know a few folks that have not had any issues with their GM trucks. Hope I don't regret it. :)

I just needed a bit more payload than the Ram offers. Aesthetically, the older cab and the trasnforce tires that never looked quite right, pushed me away. I was going to do a chevy but again, the chrome bumper just seemed to clash, unless spending more to get the trail boss, and I want it for towing, not off roading. The GMC, on the other hand, just seems to own the chrome in a good way.

If the ram had more payload, I would have gone that route for the ZF tranny and the newly improved cummins and 10 year powertrain warranty.

I must be missing something…. The Ram GVWR and payload ratings are higher than similar GM products. Where are you seeing otherwise?

Do you have the new 11,040 lb GVWR option? That's the only explanation for that much payload with a diesel.
It must. I can't find my build sheet I thought I had saved.
Edit: I didn't build it, haha. I usually do, but found this one on the lot. From what I understand, as of May 2025, all trucks built after have the new GVWR standard.

They reduced the GVWR and the GAWR rear now? My 2020 SRW Cummins has 11,800 GVWR and 7000 Rear GAWR, max payload 3694.44.

Ah it’s a 6.4 Hemi. Surprised the Rear Axle is lower though.

2500 vs 3500

Some earlier 4th gen 2500’s had a 6500 RAWR, but it didn’t make it thru the 2019 changes for some reason. It makes me wonder if there were harmonics or bushing longevity issues at 6,500lbs that Ram wanted to deal with, since we know the trucks seem to handle that weight just fine.

Did the tow rating change? If so, I'd expect they retest/recert J2807.

Tow rating change would likely require retest/recert for J2807.
I guess the point I'm making is they increased capacity one way or another without any physical changes to the vehicle. It always amuses me when that happens.
