Particulate filter

Ok, I've ask dumb questions before so, I might as well carry on in my usual way.

Particulate filter....is this a filter that you change/clear/clean or??????

I researched it, know they are expensive, just never heard of changing one.
Can you give me a little insight please? I guess there is STILL a lot I need to learn about the Cummins/diesel world.

In the transport world they are usually attached with 2 band clamps and are changeable, easily cleaned. In the automotive world they are not so friendly you don't need to change the SCR but the DPF DOC get changed together at a hefty price, some DPF cleaning shops will cut the system apart clean the filter then weld them back up but not many are doing it anymore

The system is designed (when operating properly) to be self sufficient, just keep it from running out of DEF.
The dpf media does technically deteriorate over time... You will find wildly different information on intervals for replacement and/or cleaning or if it's even necessary.
My opinion: keep def in it and send it... Or delete it and get a proper tune if you don't care about warranty.
These trucks will tell you when there's a problem... No need to go overboard.
