"P" Flashing When in Park

About 50% of the time when I put the gear selector in Park, the "P" flashes and I can't shut the engine off until I jiggle around the gear selector just right. The truck has been at the dealership for some time for this already. They replaced the "range sensor" but it is still doing it apparently. They said they are waiting for a gear shift cable to arrive so they can replace that next. Anyone have any ideas? I don't see how the cable can be the cause. Definitely feels like an issue with something in the steering column given how I can get it to work by jiggling the selector lever.

I had this happen a couple times.
Jiggle selector / steering when has worked.
I have not been annoyed enough to do anything about it yet.

I could see a sticky cable having an effect.

Interesting. It doesn't bother too too much but I am worried that it will get to the point where I wont be able to shut the engine off and I will be left with a running truck. That is my main concern. I have had a few times were it took me about a minute of jiggling to get it to shut off which was concerning.

Totally ! I dont blame you for wanting to get it sorted out.
A new truck should go into gear when you tell it to.

Oh - i just re-read your original post. Thats different (worse) than mine.
Mine will occasionally not go into gear and flash "P". Maybe 3 times in 6 months

mine is just like diezeldaves, it happens every now and again but just figured it was me not putting it all the way in but not enough to annoy me

Mine sticks in park and does this. After several tries it will go into reverse or drive. Grrr...

What did you have replace for it to stop blinking and work properly? My truck is also having this same issue

My 2019 is having same problem. Did anyone ever find a solution?

Weird question, Ever try shifting it into drive and then shutting the truck off? Sometimes I will accidentally do that and it will reset to park.

You have an electronic shifter dial. The Cummins trucks have a column mounted shift selector.

My Cummins truck won't shut off in drive. Has to go into N or P.
