Recently picked up a '21 Laramie, and the only option it didn't have that I wanted was the surround view camera. Is it possible to have this installed and software updated, or do I have to get an aftermarket kit? If the answer is aftermarket kit; is there any way to have it show up on the 12' screen already installed? I'd like to keep random extra screens to a minimum if at all possible. Thanks in advance for any info!

It's possible to do, not sure of a company doing it for you though. I did it on my 19 2500 Laramie. Not particularly cheap either as you need to buy new mirrors (with the cameras built in), new tail gate camera (original is an analogue and you need it to be a digital version, front camera and bed camera also needed. Requires some soldering under drivers seat and wire installation throughout car. Happy to try and answer questions about specifics is you like

Man, I bet that was a heck of a project, but add me to the list of interested parties. I would love to have it, and would seriously consider taking on the task.

I originally thought I had it because my mirrors have little sensors that look like cameras underneath. Do you know what those are for? The side mirrors dont dim or anything so I'm not sure what it does. On your install, did you just order all the kit parts OEM?

Yep all parts were oem. I looked around for parts from wreckers but they were more expensive than new. The fakra cabling (for connecting cameras to control box) are available from Amazon. You can recoup some of your costs by selling your old mirrors, tailgate handle/camera and overhead brake stop lamp.

The best way to work out the exact part is to find a model of truck the same colour and model as yours that has the cameras and get all the correct part numbers.

If you're serious about it I'll sit down and go through the list of stuff i bought and post it up here.

You also need to be comfortable playing with alpha obd. You need a security bypass cable and obdlink (i had an inferior brand initially and needed to buy this one to get it to talk to module that you use to calibrate the cameras (not the body control module).

I'm definitely serious, guess my only question is how much did it roughly cost? Need to figure out if I can afford it right now.

Also be aware that those parts were for my exact truck.. you may have some different parts that will change the price slightly. but I found the links for these parts to be the best prices at the time.

Nice!

If you put that in a new thread, I'll sticky it.

Also add a couple placeholder replies if you want to add a writeup at some point. I can lock it until you're ready to add or take questions. We can also keep it locked if preferred.

Honestly that's not as bad as I thought it would be. How was the install? I'm fairly familiar with wiring but by no means an expert.

Nevermind I see all that in your sticky post. Thanks for all the info!!!!!!
