Wow, lots of great info posted on here recently on the truck campers, thank you all for passing along your experience! I will not be full timing with this rig and don't drive too fast so if I end up a little above GVWR, I will be ok with that.
As for an update, I posted the 3rd gen on Carsoup, Facebook Marketplace, and Craigslist. I never got a hit on Carsoup and had a couple tire kickers on Craigslist but nobody who could afford it (banks don't like financing older trucks like that in good shape). I also got plenty of text messages from scammers (some of which I had some fun with and am still waiting for some cashiers checks to arrive...) It took a couple weeks, but I found a buyer via Facebook Marketplace who was in his mid 50's and had some disposable income (no loan necessary). We ended up settling on $24,500 and were both happy with that.
The new 3500 arrived and I picked it up about 2 weeks ago. The GVWR is right about 4,000 lbs which will have to do. I really like the new truck and all the updates Ram has come up with but still miss the 6-speed manual haha. So far I have put some RokBlokz mudflaps on to keep the chips down, threw an old tool box in the back for now and undercoated with WoolWax before the snow comes. I am looking to buy topper (soliciting quotes for ARE and LEER) and would really like to replace the crappy Transforce tires soon too.
