It states that not all 49 state compliant vehicles are California compliant, which means that if you do buy something with less than 7,500 miles on it, you need to check that it is California compliant, not just fed compliant.

That should be what the smog is for. If it gets through smog, you should be golden. The larger, global manufacturers havent made "49 state" vehicles for a LONG time.

You know, that is a good question. They use to (still?) make cars that were smog compliant, but did not have the charcoal/carbon canister system on them, which I believe California still requires. I know on the last motorcycle I bought, there was a "California" version of the bike for that reason.

What’s the big difference between our of state Diesel engines and out of state gassers? Why isn’t there an issue buying hd trucks from out of state?
