Opinions on best A/T Tire :)

And those were probably louder than the grabbers and wildpeaks.
Absolutely.

But strange enough, the 32" Wildpeaks that we have on my wife's Durango (275/65R18) are much, much louder. They were loud day 1 and 30k+ miles later they still howl.

Currently I am on Toyo Open Country AT/3, and I have to admit they are quiet as hell. So, I might grab the grabbers :)

I have been liking my Cooper Discoverer XLTs. Only have maybe 5k on them, but so far quiet, rides good, and tows good. Love the way they look too.

So, on my last 1500, I had Cooper STT M/Ts. Those things got loud, really damn quick. I agree Cooper makes a good tire. But am curious to the noise after about 10k miles.

For an AT that sees more road than dirt I really like the Ridge Grappler. It looks more aggressive than it is and provides relatively low noise and good comfort with crazy long life. I wouldn’t claim it’s the best all terrain out there as far as off road traction but I haven’t slipped a tire anywhere I’ve been. I’m not super brand loyal, I have BFG, Yoko, toyo, Michelin and Nitto currently. FWIW Nitto are made by Toyo and many of them are made here in Georgia.

Thanks man. I have a few people telling me to go the Ridge Grappler route. Ill check the weight and price compared to the others.

If it a good looking tire though. And my truck is more on road than off at the moment.

I've been extremely happy with my Kanati Trail Hogs. I can't say yet that they are "the best" as I'll wait to rank them once I wear them out, but so far they've treated me very well.

However, in the last 5 years I've run a handful of tires and here's how they ranked for me:
General Grabber ATX - 36"
Falken Wildpeak - 37"
Pro Comp Xtreme M/T - 37"
Toyo Open Country R/T - 37" (before I had them siped, they'd have been further down the list)
Goodyear Duratrac - 35"
Nitto Terra Grappler - 35"

But where you live may come into play as well, since performance on snowpacked roads definitely influences my experiences.
What size tire did you run that was a 36"?

Curious...has anyone ran or have any experience with the GY Wrangler Ultraterrain AT? I have been seeing decent reviews. The Grabbers are on backorder at the moment. And this is in stock.

Right now it seems like you buy what you can find. Just went through this putting tires on my car, ended up with my 3rd or 4th choice

Yeah man, starting to feel that way :) At least these are 3 peak rated as well. A little heavier than the Generals, but have more tread depth, just a tad smaller at 34.8" where the ATX are a true 35". No mileage warranty on them, but im not sure how much of that matters.

Good luck and hope you like what you get

my Porsche takes a staggered fitment tire, wider rear tires. Had a hell of a time finding a set of tires. I wanted BFG G force, couldn’t get them. So I settled for Conti ultra contact, couldn’t get them either. Ended up with Yoko Advans and I actually like them and they were quite a bit cheaper. But, car tires are so cheap compared to truck tires, that wasn’t a deciding factor, just a benefit.

I did really like the looks of them, but goodyear not putting a mileage warranty on them held me back because every other tire I wanted in that category came with some sort of mileage warranty.

Yeah after reading a bit...they seem to wear. People were going through 2 or 3 32nds in only 4k miles.

They had the BFG KO2 in stock for only $100 more total. So I'm going with the BFG for now.

I'm not sure those will be any better. The BFG seem to wear fast on HD trucks.
****...really? I can cancel the order. Hmmm...not much is in stock in 35x12.5x17. The grabbers are on back order for nearly a month. Maybe I should try to GY. Ugh...I wish shut would not be on back order.

Yes, the KO2 does not belong on an HD truck. Some run them, but most will tell you to shy away. They already have a shallow tread, combined with the increased wear... No go.

Order cancelled. I went ahead and grabbed the Toyo Open Country A/T 3s. I have them now with no complaints, cheaper than the BFG, and are in flipping stock. At least I know the treadwear with them vs the GY Ultraterrain.

I really wanted those Grabbers though...but 3-4 week time sucks. My wheels will be in later next week.

And I changed my mind again. I am not going with the Toyo OC AT3. they are 9lbs heavier per tire than my current OC AT3 (20"). Im gonna give the GY Ultraterrains a try. I know they are a modified Duratrac. I had the Duratracs on my Jeeps in the past, and they were great tires.

Lets see how these go.
