For my last truck, I debated ram boxes for a while and decided against based on reports on the forums and owners I know who have had issues with alignment and warping.

Anyone know if the build quality has been improved for the last model years? Function-wise, I’d like to add them to a new 2025 order but not if it’s gonna be a headache.

Thoughts?

I have had NO issues with mine in 5 years. No warping, alignment or leaking. I can't imagine not having them. I keep a fuel cell in my truck bed to fill up generators, so no room for a toolbox.

I like mine, but not sure I would get the Rambox again even though I use them lots.

The amount of cargo space you lose is pretty substantial and you can’t get the factory installed gooseneck and puck system (can be add afterwards).

Once installed the only fifth wheel hitch is the sidewinder (RV type fifth wheel trailers). I think most gooseneck trailers (equipment trailers) are fine.

I've had 2 - 2500's with them. An '18 and my current '22. The '18 broke a small linkage piece that wouldn't let the rambox lock, but it simple and cheap to fix. Otherwise, no issues. they never leak, alignment is good. I would not buy a truck without them, personally. The only area they take up in the box is the space around the wheel wells. You can still slide a 4' wide sheet of whatever right in. I sure don't miss the lost space in the bed.

Great info. I also was debating them. They forgot them on my 2018, knuckle head dealer. But looking to try them on my new truck.

Thanks guys.

I’m ordering this AM. I’m struggling to find any major issues reported in the recent model years.

Chime please if you have them hate them due to warping / separation / fit!

Same here, I took a deep breath after they forgot them on my 2018 and though I dodged a bullet. But I sure do not see any mass reports of these issues any more.

Yes the storage is GREAT for sure and yes 48” wide material fits.

It’s bulky things like small square bales of hay, firewood and like dirt/gravel.

Had bed boxes for years and don't miss climbing in the back one bit. Not to mention them taking up length in the bed. No matter how neatly you tied up rope in the box, it would always snare everything in the standard truck box. Ram boxes for life. All the kids crap is now in rhe ram boxes as well.

Are the Ram boxes actually available on lower trim levels for the 2025 2500? I am not seeing the option available when trying to do a build on the ram trucks site??????

Another ridiculous thing. Anthony says he can order them on his end. This stuff is blowing my mind. Are they still trying to sell 2024 stock? Why would you be doing all these crazy things?

I removed RAM boxes option when ordering my Limited. You can't slide a truck camper in and I was buying a truck to haul a camper. I also used a box canopy (or topper) for a number of years, can't imagine accessing RAM boxes with a topper on.
If I were going to buy again, I'd go again without RAM boxes

No, it's been that way for a couple years now. It may be only available on the limited now? (maybe a Laramie)

Well here my experience with them on my 2020 Limited. All these repairs done all under warranty
- Had the tension rods fixed twice on right side after popping off.
- Then had the entire Rambox assembly replaced on right side due to warpage and leakage.
- And the right side lid skin has come loose twice, last time I fixed myself.
- Then dealer said they would replace left side for same issue. After months waiting on parts they had it for two weeks and did nothing. Working with RAM on correction.
- When dealer gave it back the left lid would not latch all the way, had to adjust myself.
- Left side actuator has failed twice.

I still like having them and don't miss any bed storage as I don't carry heavy loads. Would I get them again? Probably not.

I've heard of a couple of bad experiences like this, and that would suck. But everyone I know that has them, including me, has had little to no issues with them.

A buddy has them on his 3500. They feel cheap to me, like they should only be offered on 1500s. He's not happy with them, some of the warping and seal problems. I get that they offer a bit of conveniences for some uses. Personally I don't see the value. If I wanted to give up that much bed space, why not just get a chassis cab, put on a flat bed, and mount metal boxes? Wouldn't be as pretty, but it would be more secure, with more options.
