How much oil consumption is normal? About 6k on this oil change and my dip stick is about dry.

Are you checking it after letting it sit at least 30 minutes? and at the same attitude?

What oil type/brand are you using? I understand that can make a difference as some oil have higher volatility than others and basically burn off. I don’t know enough about the specifics, but read it on the internet so.... maybe someone with more knowledge can expound?

Do you perform your own oil changes, did you verify it was topped off after last change? How many miles are on your truck? I am curious on how much oil it will take to top off, if its more than 2 quarts I would be concerned.

In my opinion there should be minimal oil consumption but the dealer will state its normal. Unless your truck is puffing out blue smoke all the time its going to be an uphill battle getting them to do anything.

At this point id take it into the dealer just to have it documented assuming you are under factory warranty. Moving forward check it every 2k miles or so and monitor consumption. If it continues to get worse make sure the dealer is documenting it.

On my wifes car for the first 50k miles her car burned a quart every 10k miles, initially I was worried. Since then the car has used less and less and currently uses 0 oil between changes with 120k on car. Monitor, document, and add oil as required.

Truck has almost 70,000 miles. I don't believe I'm under warranty.

I hope the dealer topped it off on the last change. I'm not sure what oil they use.

Truck should have 5 year/100k mile warranty on powertrain components.

Hmmm, makes it tricky since you are not sure if it was topped off last change, definitely verify on future changes. If you have doubts take it in to make sure its documented and start monitoring oil level between changes.

I have a 2020 2500 Cummins with 73k miles on it and at 10k miles I will be a quart low. Been like that since new. I just add little and keep trucking. My truck did go on a emissions diet along with the ccv, but was the same way even before the diet.
