I should mention I'm in Canada ,it does get cold here which leads into my question. The dealership did the first oil change on a 2019 HO Cummins, I didn't ask what oil they put in and upon looking at the invoice after they put in 10W30. I thought it mentioned in the manual that for cold climates 5W40 was required?. I questioned the service advisor about this, his response was they changed that a few months ago in a service bulletin, nothing to worry about.

Does anyone have anymore info on this?.

Thanks

I recently bought a 2020 3500 with the SO Cummins. I'm located in Calgary. It was tough getting the service manager at the dealership to tell me the factory oil fill was 10W30. He went on to say that 5W40 synthetic is required in Canada due to the cold weather. I changed the oil at 1000km myself and used 5W40. The service manager never mentioned anything about a service bulletin which said 10W30 was adequate.

This is why I skipped the dealership first freebie OC and did it myself. I don't want whatever bargain basement, lowest price per volume oil that was sucked from their unsealed bulk drum in my stupid expensive to repair engine.
