OEM Block Heater Kit for 2019+?

Would like to add the OEM engine block heater onto my 2019 2500 6.4L

The kit on the Mopar sites shows it’s only for up to 2018 model years…I would think it would still work, but maybe they changed some things (cord routing?) on 2019+?

Or should I just piecemeal a kit together with the specific parts for the 2019?

You only need the cord. The heater element is already installed in the block.

edit: I've got the OEM cord for mine but many folks simply purchase one off Amazon or Geno's. Heater Cord
In some respects I think the non-OEM is a better option - it's less expensive and doesn't come with christmas trees and clamps so you simply plug it in, lay it out and zip tie it in place rather than trying to suss out the OEM routing and use all the attachment pins and such that come on the cord.

The heater element is already installed?! On the Hemi 6.4? Holy hell that’s amazing if true. I’ve had this truck for 6 years, have always wanted the block heater (would have ordered it if I had done a custom build) but it seemed like more trouble than it was worth so I never really looked into it. If I just need the cord that changes everything

How cold is it where the truck is parked, to where a block heater is necessary on a gasser? It obviously won’t hurt anything, but they sure don’t have a problem starting or warming up down to some absolutely frigid temperatures.

My 03 half ton lived a lot of North Dakota winters without one, and it still runs great to this day.
 
I'd rather use my block heater than let the truck idle to warm up a bit. I ordered the block heater with my truck but I'm interested to hear if yours actual has it already.

Denver area, our winters are variable, but usually average 20F at night thru the winter months; cold fronts will see a couple of times a winter with sub-zero temps.

No, not necessary to have a block heater. But, would be nice to have heat a bit sooner, and engine will be a bit happier if it’s not starting as cold. I also don’t drive it every day, so some mornings it will be a true cold start, no residual heat in the block from driving the day before.

I’m soft.

Block heater or not, my truck is idling until the ice is melted off, and the cab is toasty.

Freeze my ass off enough at work, I don’t need to add it to the commute lol

I may let my cummins idle for 2-3 mins without plugging it in then I'm on the road even in -45 If I forget to plug it in I'm not waiting lol. I usually only plug in if it’s below -30. But a deleted truck does not build much heat idling lol

I did not notice the OP has a 6.4L. I was talking about the 6.7L Cummins engine. I don't know squat about the gasser engine and am not qualified to speak to any aspect of it.

Well looking at the heater element linked to above there is a link that shows the location being on the driver’s side. It also makes it look like it is towards the rear of the block, but not sure.

Did some more digging, good news / bad news.

Bad news: I don’t think the heater is pre installed like @wrvond said.

Good news: I assumed the heater went into a freeze plug, meaning you might loose coolant/messier install; but it looks like it goes into a “dry well”.

Bad news: this guy had a good video on his 1500 5.7; but I’m guessing the install is relatively similar on the 6.4. While it does appear to be a “dry install”, the starter has to be removed to get it in.

The OEM exhaust brake function is the real MVP when it comes to warmup.

We have some 2015’s in the fleet that had a weight loss, and retained the exhaust brake function. They warm up just as good as my bone stock 22. I’d love to find a tuner who could replicate it.

Kidding. Appreciate that you realized and responded.

We don’t hear much about gassers and block heaters so a few ears perked up when the topic was brought up.

We have some 2015’s in the fleet that had a weight loss, and retained the exhaust brake function. They warm up just as good as my bone stock 22. I’d love to find a tuner who could replicate it.
I have the EB warmup but its still not the same
