Observation

Probably the same reason a lot of OTR trucks utilize the Cummins motor.

That's exactly what I was going to say, I think the Cummins has a lot to do with.
 
I talked to 2 different independent diesel mechanic shops about modern diesels and both said to buy the Cummins. They said that eventually you'll have issues with any of them but the Cummins is cheaper and easier to fix. That may be a big reason a lot of hot shot drivers pick them.

In my area, I would say 80% of the hot shot drivers drive a Cummins.
