Noise, mega cab body looks shifted, and tsbs??

I will try that but sounds like that's the sound on mine I'll post back.....is there a fix to keep them closed/notake that noise??....

I also went to ram dealer yesterday and looked at few trucks and they the majority of the 95% the bed was misaligned to the cab. It was a mix some to pass side some to driver side...I'm guessing it's normal..lol

Don’t feel bad, Ford is doing the same thing with their trucks. We had a batch of new F150s come in at work a couple of years back and one of the beds was flush on the drivers side but was inset almost 2” on the passenger side. That and their panel gapping was horrible on most of them, none of them had an even gap anywhere. So I think it’s happening to every manufacturer. I don’t know if it’s just laziness on the installers or a byproduct of everyone expecting their orders yesterday?

I have experienced a similar clunk from the rear passenger area. I’ve narrowed mine down to where the base of the rear seat passenger seat belts bolt to the cab. Once i temporarily stuck something around the bolt to tighten up where the seat belt attaches, the sound stopped. I’m waiting for warmer weather to explore a more permanent solution

There were bosses around the perimeter of the storage compartments that the lids rested on. That's where I applied the foam. Bear in mind that this was an early 4th gen with a fold flat floor intended for a quad cab installed in a crew. The truck was not originally available with that option. I have no idea if that fix will work with the newer trucks. I haven't as yet confirmed if the lids of the rear storage are in fact the source of the noise/clunk. My box? Out by about 3/4 inch relative to the cab. Not a bunch but it is noticeable if ya stare at it long enough.

Yup looks crooked, not sciencetifficle but if I hold my hand down the side of my cab my front box edge is IN about 1/2’’ or so each side. Going to check with an actual straight edge and measure tape. Just imagine if they had to get the push pin also would have taken another month! Hay which door was missing bumper?

Driver's side. Took longer to do the warranty paperwork than to install the bumper. I think the OP nailed it as regards the prevalence of misaligned boxes. I've seen it in various makes and models going back decades. Normal? Possibly. Acceptable? Nope! Just sloppy assembly...

Negative - not fixed. I don't like it (box misalignment) but I'm not too warped about it either. I'm gonna crawl under in the Spring to have a better look and take some measurements relative to the frame and mounting points. The door bumper we mentioned is a round piece of rubber adjacent to the latch and affixed just fwd of the door's rear edge.

Indeed. It has occurred at most, a half dozen times and I recall being a bit surprised when it has occurred. More troubling and try as I might, I can't seem to replicate it. Not yet, at least. I'll be keeping an eye (ear) out.

Found it! The wheel jack under the pax seat would thump/clunk over specific bumps. It resides in a storage bracket along with the jack accessories and is held in place by tensioning the jack in the bracket. It had loosened off and just needed to have the the screw extended ever so slightly. Quiet like mouse, now.

One other thought and it wouldn't be the first time it's happened. There may be something in the doors or rockers. I know of instances where techs have punched a botched rivnut into the rocker area while installing steps. And sometimes things that shouldn't be there get left in doors.

I just noticed this on my 2020 3500 CC LWB SRW and I'm pissed. I was going to install an AMP bedstep on the driver side and noticed this.

Partly pissed off at myself for not catching it sooner, but this is not cool. I did some quick measurements and it seems the bed bracket and frame to panel distance is identical at the bottom and the frame to cab seam distance is within 1/4" so it's perplexing how this can look so bad and be so far off (tolerance stacking?) Perhaps the bed itself is wonky. The difference between the cab seams and bed seams at the top of the bed is 1" (1" on driver side which shows more "cab", 2" on the other. HTF does that get through inspection by the plant AND the dealer?

My 04.5 2500 has better fit and finish than this $88K truck.

Just came in and searched here first. Sending my dealer GM an email shortly.

That same stamping machine has been banging out these bodies for years so tolerances are probably wack! The frames are maybe more accurate. That being said they should try even harder to get the gaps looking better

P.S. the used car lot across the street leaves that F'ng jeep parked right where it's in my way backing my trailer because their front lot is full. Neighbor's oldest son has cancer and hasn't driven it for something like a year now.
