Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Yes or No?

I’m in the minority but ridge grapplers were the worst tire I ever had on my truck (for my use case) My group of buddies has a running joke about them offroad and in any sort of rain. I could power slide with little effort with those tires in light drizzle on accident or purposefully. If I lived in a dryer climate and didn’t offroad, I actually would have liked them. They were quiet, looked great and wore slowly, but for me being in Colorado and offroading as much as a do, a no go! Just my 2 cents :)

Edit: this was my experience in a 1500 sierra

I’m 50/50 on my ridge grapplers, around 22k on them and fortunately don’t have the same cracking as a few have shown here.
Minimal off roading here, just dirt boat ramps. They do well in that instance. But turning a trailer around in my back yard with wet grass…. Boy oh boy.
I’ll probably go a different route once these wear out.

So far very happy with new tires, they fill up the wheel well nicely!
Took it camping and there were some muddy shallow holes to go through to that camping spot, truck just idled though in 2wd, extra ground clearance was a nice touch too.
I didn't notice any road noise but I'm half deaf, my wife didn't mention it either (her hearing is perfect) and if she didn't, that mean there's no real change from the previous set.
Fuel consumption went up a bit but I've reset the trip meter after the tire swap and will hand calculate accounting for roughly 3% distance difference between displayed and actual.
Came home and washed the truck, those bugs were a b**** to get off chrome (I hate chrome). Last time it looked this good it was brand new.

I guess bugs don’t stick to black paint, only chrome? Lol. Give me chrome all day everyday.

Guessing they're just not as noticeable on black, but bugs on chrome is not the only thing that bothers me about chrome. Unfortunately night edition was not available in my configuration in 2019

Cooper AT3 XLT. Great traction, looks, quiet, heavy duty, and 60k warranty! And built in USA.
I ran the Cooper AT3's for years until Goodyear bought them out and started making them in China a year and a half ago. Now people are reporting a lot of problems with them cracking around the beads.

My Coopers were purchased about 3 months ago and made in USA. AT3 XLT

I'm finding conflicting information on where the Cooper truck tires are made.

Did you check the DOT Code?
UP, U9, UT, and 3D are US manufacturing plants.

I'm running Ridge Grapplers on my dually, and they are ok. Main issue I've had is keeping them balanced. They aren't too loud, good when towing my camper, but I don't off road a dually.

Fueled up today and calculated my consumption. Lie-o-meter showed 16.8 mpg and hand calculated (not taking distance correction into account) was also 16.8 mpg. My driving is like 70-80% highway.
Hand calculated with distance correction is 17.2 mpg, down from 18.8 mpg so I took 1.6 mpg hit due to oversized tires. Worth it! :D

Try using a dryer sheet. Wet the chrome or paint then clean bugs off with dryer sheet. Works like magic and doesn't scratch either. Very little pressure required.

currently my thoughts are to try the duratrac next if I stay with the same size. These (attached) are the same size but on a tremor and they look good. I had good luck with the duratracs (C rated) I had on a smaller truck.

If i go up to 37s I’m looking at Open country.

285/75-18 duratracs (e rated) on a tremor below. (35x11.50)

Have you looked at the Recon Grapplers?

55K tread warranty, not sure on load cap. There was a recent thread here on them.

Also, carry a plug kit and emergency valve stem kit... and of course, a compressor.
take a look at
Kanati

ARMOR HOG ATX they are 12 ply f rated 95 psi tire , they are quite heavy though

I was looking at some military tires, a lot of folks with Super Single conversion use them. They were super nice but also super expensive and hard to get (in Canada) and super heavy so I opted out.
Pretty happy so far with my 12 ply ridge grapplers, just returned from over a 1000 mile trip to BC from Alberta and drove a mixed bag of terrains, mostly dry hwy obviously but also some some wet pavement, dirt and gravel roads, a lil bit of sand... Nothing too extreme but they performed flawlessly.

Well I looked today at my Falkens and they have that little cracking behind the lugs as well. Guess it spans across any tire. My guess like was said above is the sun and heat exposure. :(

You might be on to something here. I imported my previous 07 Tundra truck from Mississippi to Canada in 09 and these sort of cracks started showing up pretty soon and within a few years got bad enough to worry about my safety so I've changed the tires. Don't recall what brand tires it was but I've never seen anything like it on any of my previous tires.
I will see how my new Nittos holding up as we don't have neither Sun not temperature extremities up here in Alberta like you guys have down South.
