I am starting to shop for tires and Costco is likely the best option as we’re members.

That said I’m seeing that Costco fills tires with nitrogen.

How do you adjust the pressure in nitrogen filled tires at HOME for unloaded vs heavy hauling/towing?

Nitrogen filled tires is a gimic. Don't fall for it.
It's great for racing where you are concerned about flucations in tire pressures changing the handling charestics of the car at over 150 MPH.

Just add air as needed.

Unless you have your own Nitrogen source, you would be pumping normal air, which in itself is mostly Nitrogen. Ive collected sports cars for years, My honest opinion for a daily driver it's waste of time and money. Nitrogen will prolong the life of tire and rim, far less moisture. But that amounts to nada unless you are doing decades of maintaining the same car and wheels. Daily driver tires will expire long before any Nitrogen benefits can be recognized. Air them up and go, be happy adjust the pressure and you need far less hassle.

The benefit of nitrogen is mostly the lack of moisture in it. Compressed “normal air” (70% nitrogen anyway) has a good amount of moisture in it. It is necessary in things like shock reservoirs but not in tires.

There is a slight benefit but I would not pay any extra for nitrogen and have fought a dealership over it more than once

That's why I have a good air dryer on the output of my compressor before it reaches the storage tank. It also drops the temp as well.

I guess if I get tires from Costco I’ll just end up using air from my compressor to just the psi as it won’t matter.

It’s what we’ve done on all our Costco tires, and there are no issue as everyone has stated.

We’ve used Costco tires plenty of times, but have moved away for better deals, more locations, and quicker rotations with Commercial Tire.
