Hi, I'm Bob from Riverside, CA. Just bought a new 2019 Ram 3500 Laramie 4x4 SRW with the Cummins engine. My last Ford died, and it was time for a new truck. And I'm kind of worried about Ford now, so Ram was the ideal choice. I've always been impressed with the Cummins engine. The new truck is a beauty and I'm really impressed with it so far. Quiet and it rides and drives like a dream.

Welcome Dr. Bob. Did you get the SO/68RFE or HO/Aisin combo?

SO/68FRE. I had little choice, since my Ford died with repairs more than the trade-in value. Fortunately the Ram dealer had a model that checked just about all the boxes. I didn't really need or want the Black Appearance Package, but beggars can't really be choosers! It has the towing tech, safety, 5th/goose prep, black appearance, Laramie Level 2, LED bed lighting, spray-in liner, power running boards, auto level rear suspension and the mopar 5th wheel hitch. I didn't really need the 5th wheel hitch, as I already had a B&W companion hitch from my Ford. And I just picked up a Curt gooseneck that fits in the factory pucks. So, anybody interested in a B&W companion 5th wheel hitch (the kind that fits in the B&W gooseneck turn-over ball system)? :)

Long shot: I'm sure your screen name may just be coincidence, but you don't happen to know Paul W. from Santa Barbara do you?

Welcome and nice truck!

The Mopar hitches are Curt. I know the 30K is an A-series, not sure on the 20K. If it's the 20K, mind posting a pic of the head?

Just based on the locking lever and the Curt web page, it's a Q20. I haven't actually used it yet, but it seems like a nice setup.

If you have a rotaflex on your fifth wheel, the two are incompatible due to the Q-series flex design. Reported to work OK with a MorRyde pinbox (doesn't rotate).

If it were me, I'd sell both and get a Goosebox. I have an A-25 and am happy with it, but was already invested in it from my old truck that did not have a gooseneck ball setup.

At the moment, it's just the stock Grand Design pinbox, which I believe is a low-end Lippert. I've heard good things about the Goosebox, but where we store our trailer, they require a standard pinbox, since they are not set up for geese...

Probably the 1621 Lippert.

The Q20 should work well for you if you can't use the B&W.

Though it's a different head design, I've been very happy with my A25 pulling our GDRV 303RLS and the boat. It's certainly world's better than the husky slidebar hitch I hated for 14 years but was too cheap/stubborn at the time to replace.

FWIW, can't imagine a facility that can't move a goose...
