Hi everyone, just picked up a 2024 Ram 3500 with single rear wheel, bar bones tradesman, with the standard 6.7 Cummins. Nothing fancy but hopefully reliable to pull the camp trailer around. I’m big on maintenance and plan on owning this rig start to finish. One question I have that my dealers sales team really couldn’t answer is what kind of differential the truck has. Open or limited slip. They did confirm electronic lockers only come on the power wagon. All I can find on the window sticker is that it’s 11.5” ,3.73 gear ratio. Owners manual states that if it’s equipped with a limited slip to use a friction modifier additive when you service the diffs. Problem is I can’t seem to nail down for sure if it’s open or limited slip option. And I certainly hope it’s a torsion design. I’ve had nothing but problems with the little clutch pack style ones in the past. Always chattering or blowing apart. Is there someone on here who can shed some light on what the differential setups are in this truck?

Thanks

Limited slip is standard on all 3500’s. It is a clutch pack style, but works far better than other clutch pack LSD’s I’ve driven. I’m using Amsoil severe gear 75w-90 and don’t need additional friction modifier.

You can get an equipment list for your truck here.

Thanks for the info. I tried putting in my vin into that link, 3C63R3GL7RG404675 and it just says “oops, something went wrong”

Are you sure there isn’t a typo?

EDIT: my VIN doesn’t work right now either. Site must be down.
