Hi All,
My name is Amauri, I'm 65 yo and just retired. I have a dear wife and an amazing young daughter.
My background has always involved mechanical things, I've worked as a line mechanic at Datsun, Volvo, Toyota and GM dealerships.
I also spent 25 years working on IBM mainframe computers, and another 15 years working with Road Racing motorcycles.
My first diesel was a 1983 Ford Ranger with a 2.2 Perkins, that was the most gutless vehicle I've ever owned but it got 38 mpg and I drove it 200k miles.
Over the years I've owned several diesel trucks and SUVs, currently using our new 3500 to tow a 5th wheel.
I also own a couple of old Landcruisers that I converted to Turbo Diesel power several years ago.
I've always performed all my own repair work on the vehicles I've owned, both routine servicing and major overhauls.

I joined up here in Jan just before ordering my new 3500 CTD in Feb.
Thanks to all of you who take the time to post all the tech details that made ordering my new truck a pleasant experience.

Regards

Welcome aboard, you and I have many similarities, like IT and mechanic abilities and perspectives.
There are a lot of good people, ideas, and info here.

Ok, most of the ones I see here are JDM and RHD.
I built mine some 25 years ago when parts were still available from Toyota.
Got a like new 12-HT and A442F, dropped them into a FJ62 converted to round headlights and installed factory cable lockers.

I did a lot of work for Marv back in the 90s, I miss him.

Yep, ours is a lefty. Are you out in Cali then?

I love those old trucks, so much character, capacity, and capability. I know the awareness is great overall for the current ownership, it is not friendly to my wallet ;-).
getting my garage built soon, thinking of what would be a good/useful project.
