Good evening,
I am on my second Ram and looking to upgrade from a 1500 to 2500. But all the dealerships around here have is the diesel. I don’t need all the benefits/potential headaches that come with a diesel but I also have no desire to order a truck (the dealerships around here are heavily discounting the trucks on the lot). Any thoughts on the diesel as an everyday driver with very minimal towing (8k boat maybe three times a year)?

Welcome. Couple things to consider here. Are you looking at heavily discounted '24 Cummins trucks or '25s that are on the lot. Remember that the '25 model year brought a LOT of changes to the diesel trucks and it was the reason I came back to a ram. I would not consider a leftover '24 Cummins at this point. Also, how long is your daily commute for the diesel?

If you're looking at leftover 6.4 hemi's, they're basically still the same powertrain wise so I would heavily consider a '24 if the price was right.

So that you're accurately considering pricing from your lot, I'll leave my build/pricing sheet here for my '25 Cummins from Koons because it's not a secret, they offer this pricing to anyone if you order through Brian(he's on the forums). Mark Dodge and a couple others offer very similar.Granite 2500 Order.jpg

Thank you for the reply! Yes they are all 2025 model year. Thank you for sharing!

I daily drove my 19 CTD for appx 4yrs. Never had any issues. But this was also a 30min/24mi run of 70% hiway. Towing appx 7k 15-20x/yr. I'm currently enjoying a mini retirement. I notice it hits regen a lil more when im just running to girlfriends. I really try to take the JK wrangler if its a short trip. If your version of daily allows the vehicle to get hot might be ok. Idk if I would buy one for consistent short trips all over. I like the CTD Ram a lot. I've owned too many cars/trucks/bikes/atvs. If I smell trouble (was ASE certified) I sell them fast. My '19 is currently in 3rd place of longest owned vehicle. Another year here and she takes 2nd. To me that speaks to how well its treated me!
Have you searched on Rams website via the truck finder search tool? Maybe there's a 6.4 @ a dealership a lil further out?
