New 2024 leaking fluids

Haha just kidding they are doing a whole new tranny not sure how they got that approved but they said they would have to drop the transmission to replace the other parts so it would be easier to just put in a new transmission. Doesn’t make sense to me but im also not a mechanic
Nice man sometimes I question the ability of the techs at my dealer so typically we just do everything in house. Trans should be easy enough and straight forward.

Update on mine:

New seal I put in lasted a little over 1000 miles. It’s not leaking bad yet the cross member under the tcase isn’t soaked. I’m wondering if the slip yoke end is the problem and is a couple thousandths too small in diameter?

Anyone find a permanent solution to this yet? I have a second seal but at this point it’s just easier to top off the fluid every other week.

Between this and the steering wheel “creek” I’m cringing at the thought of dropping my truck off at the dealer. Only alittle over 3000 miles on this thing.

My new seal started leaking again.

They’re installing a new drive shaft now to see if that’s the problem……

Please let us know if that fixes the problem. I put my second seal in recently just to by more time during my busy season before taking to the dealer. I’m sure it’s going to start leaking soon want to know what the end all be all with this is.

I read somewhere the real issue is a bushing wearing out in the BW tcase but I felt 0 play in the output shaft last time I was under there replacing the seal

Originally I was told they didn't have one and the service advisor told me to reach out to FCA to put a claim in and let them know I would need a rental. The FCA representative was helpful and confirmed that they would/could provide a rental, I would just need to schedule the service, let the service advisor know my FCA claim number so they could call FCA and have a rental ready for when my drop off appointment was. It would have been a little bit of a hassle just because FCA needed like two days to work it all out on their end based on the FCA representatives comments. Lucky for me, the dealer called back and found a loaner so I didn't have to go that route. But ill know for the next warranty item (Hopefully none).

I got the call today that mine is done so we shall see if its cleaned up. To me something like that would be more of the pride/craftsmanship a tech takes in his work. If the truck isn't clean to begin with then maybe I wouldn't think twice about it as a tech. But on a truck like mine where as of right now you could eat off the bottom of it, if I was the tech working on it id definitely would have cleaned it all up. To each there own I guess.
I just wanted to follow-up on this. It's been about 10 months, and I have not had any further issues with this. I feel pretty confident the problem was fixed (knock on wood).

Do you know if they used a new-old-stock seal?
Or just pulled one from parts and installed it?

There’s a chance they just put a defective seal back in…
The part number for the seal they put in was 78718876aa.

Yeah that was suppose to be a 6. Seal was leaking again within a month of being put in. Been waiting on the drive shaft for weeks.

Brought mine to dealer yesterday for the leaking output shaft seal. I replaced mine twice already myself with a National seal replacement and within 500-1000 miles both times started leaking again.

Brought it in yesterday got it back today pretty happy with that didn’t lose too much work time. They supposedly put in an “updated” seal. See what happens I’m pretty sure there is something else going on that’s wiping out these seals.

I've got over10k miles on the latest updated seal. So far so good just as dry as it should be.
Happy to hear that. What length bed do you have I know the 8’ crew cabs have a different shaft setup. Mine is a crew cab with 6.5’ bed. I noticed whoever installed it put the weep hole at 9 o’clock instead of straight down. Guess it doesn’t really matter if it leaks it’s going to show up at some point

Do you have the repair order? If so do you have the part number for that updated seal they used?

Shortbed.they did the same on mine to.

Looks like it’s number # 68718876-AA

There’s also a number # 21060013 but I have a feeling that’s the number on a parts breakdown or identification number not sure it’s under “description “

Mine has been leaking for a while given the wet sludge on top of the cross member bar. I have 19000 miles and the dealer has done all three oil changes but none of them bothered to look 12 inches behind and see the leak. They just replaced the seal and I will be checking it often. Hope it stays dry.

Dealer put a new drive shaft in my truck after replacing the seal and still having it leak. About 5000km on the new driveshaft and no leaks….

After mine was replaced, I haven’t had any issues since [knock on wood]. I hope your issue has been taken care of as well.
