Good evening, Can anyone help a new guy out and help me find the 12 pin loom under the bumper.
A picture or diagram. I should have it with the tow package on my 22 3500 Laramie, but, reading this thread, it looks like I Got the after mid year cut out production.

It only took 17 months for my order to br fulfilled. as I ordered back in Sept of 21 and just recently recieved it. Pretty sure I should have had surround view and trailer view when I ordered it, and all I have is the camera for the rear view out of the brake light.
The mirror has an option for the trailer camera, but it is not on the Uconnect screen.

Just trying to find out how deep I am going to have to go to retrofit.

Basically here, Im just looking to see if I even have the loom run through the truck. It doesn't stick outy the bumper at the plug, I have a 4 way connector eith my 7 pin

If you have the 7+4 pin at the bumper then you don't have the 12 pin wiring, and thus can't use the aux or surround trailer cameras without adding some stuff.

Your mirror uses a different camera for the trailer, known as the "Tow Mode Camera". It plugs into the connector to the left of your rear license plate and will come on automatically when plugged in. When it's plugged in you can change between that camera and the CHMSL camera with the buttons on the mirror.

Thanks for the reply,
Maybe I am terming the camera systems incorrectly.

I had read there should be a connector by the left of the license plate.
I dont have said connector.

That is why I am searching for the loom to see if there is a plug to run out.

The camera for the mirror doesn't use the 12pin harness, it uses a separate video cable. It should be behind a small cover that has an icon of a trailer on it (see the second picture in this post: https://hdrams.com/forum/index.php?threads/2022-ram-tow-trailer-camera-options.6626/post-121527). Do you have your build sheet or window sticker?

I dont have the Build sheet with me (in a hotel for work traveling)

I dont have this, bust just a blank cover plate where this would go

Looks like you have the digital rear view mirror which will give you the trailer tow mode camera but you do not have the prep for the trailer surround camera. They are two different things that had to be part of the order.

On my sticker it shows as the second to last option, this is it ordered with the cameras (came in a box in the back seat).

Yep, I think some stuff was dropped from my order and now I have a lot of retro fit, But I dont think I even have the trailer tow mode as there is no connector to the left of the plate. Still Can comeone show me tha back of this plate for the wires. Maybe I still have the loom.

The wiring would not be there for the surround cameras as far as I know.

Adding the tow mode camera is pretty easy from what I’ve seen on here, does not have to be enabled / programmed.

The surround though is a different story as it goes through the UConnect system. If you go to your cameras on your UConnect you will not have a grayed out trailer surround camera option as it has not been enabled. So in addition to the wiring you would need to enable it using AlphaOBD.

Might start searching through about adding the trailer surround, there are some threads. Gets a little tough finding sometimes as there usually is a lot of chatter in the thread just clarifying the two different camera systems.

I have both, I’m still debating if I want to install the surround. I think I’ll get more value out of the rear view mirror camera as it can be on all the time, surround cannot. And it’s a lot more gear to install, just not sure the payoff is there but it will be a cool show off thing :-)

Did your dealer ever give you a POC or VIN when you ordered it? Your sequence # on your vin is very high which means the order wasn't placed until around September of '22.

Safety Group B includes the DRVM, but not the wired tow mode camera which is what you want.

I believe it can be added and that some of the wiring is already there, but that’s just something I’ve read in passing.

@Jimmy07 would likely know.

That’s not for the DRVM camera plug, that’s for the surround view 12-pin.

You can see on this example both the 360° trailer camera (12-pin) and the wired tow-mode (coax on left of plate)

The manual fold mirrors that were part of Laramie level C and D correlate to September of ‘21, as they went back to level A/B by December of ‘21.

The window sticker just shows the last 4 of the VON, so can you actually tell how high the number really is?

I did not get a VIN until Oct 22

Was that from the dealer or thru an email from Ram. I got my VIN from Ram within 2 weeks of placing my order.

What does this website show for an order date?

He posted his vin, his sequence # is NG427372, according to the '22 truck tracking sheet looking at similar sequence numbers would put his order date sometime in late September, probably close to the cutoff of '22 orders.
Either the dealer dropped the ball or something else happened

Really odd that it's Level D thou...

Here is where I should plug in the tow camera
Thanks for explaining the difference in the mirror cam and the trailer surround UConnect

As you can see, I have a blank and no wires on the inside.

Anyway to see what an install looks like so I can search the loom?
