Im new here and thought I'd share my story and see if anyone else had this happen as well.
ive got 2022 2500 that I use from time to time pulling my equipment here in northern CA. the truck has 28,500 miles and ive always kept up on maintenance like I have all my equipment and other rams I've owned. this particular truck has only pulled anything a hand full of times since buying it new in Jan 23, as stoped working for myself for a few years do to helth issues. we'll I was pulling a skidsteer up into the mountains a few months ago when the engine started to knock then quickly got a whole lot more interesting when it runaway on me. the first time it happened I was still climbing the hill and it did quit initially after a little bit (30 - 40 seconds or so). with no where to pull over and being it's very windy and kinda steep rd that I didn't really want to stop right there and I knew there was a place I could pull over in just up ahead.
while I managed to go further the truck did indeed runaway again especially once I had pulled off the road and by then the truck was just pegged at between 4500 - 5000 rm just screaming for what felt like an eternity ( a few minutes or so) until it killed its self. while this was going on I couldn't turn the truck off as it was sucking down engine oil. and for clarification the motor did not grenade.
fast foward to today and now the real problems are happening , RAM CUSTOMERCARE! I have to say that with all the brands of trucks and machines ive own over the years, I have never been treated so poorly. the truck has been at the dealership for over 70 days and the first 2 months they spent trying to blame it on me with fuel contamination then it was dirt must have got in the motor. the service department tried telling them it wasn't my fault and that all samples were taken and they did not see any contamination or wrong doing on my part. it took two engineers to look it over and they came to same conclusion. Finally they said that a long block was being ordered and that they should see it with a week or so, a few weeks goes by and now there doing a short block with all new fuel system parts because they can't get there hands on a long block. well it turns out the short block is just as hard to come by let alone the parts to complete it, this is what I'm told by the service guy.
if anyone has bought a new ram in the last few years they know a new Laramie mega cab with extras goes for alot of money these days and carriesa hefty payment, while I completely understand that things happen, I don't feel like this is being taken care of at this point and I feel ram is totally letting me down.
Basically I now feel like I don't know what to do because I no longer have a 2nd truck to use and im also paying out of pocket a bunch of money for a rental truck that's only a ½ ton which doesn't meet my needs.
to make matters worse I'm now paying someone else move the machine when i can afford it, another expense I didn't put on the price of these jobs I committed to.
I don't know if this a lemon law situation or is there another avenue i can take?

I've reached out to ram care and they didn't even seem bothered by my predicament other than they will review my rental situation.

it would be great to get feedback as to a good direction i can take on the matter.

thanks

Not sure in your state but I know in CT after 90 days of shop time you can start the lemon law. Sorry to hear about this!

So in CA I believe it's 30 days after doing some digging on the matter. I'm just not sure if I want to take the drawn out legal way yet or not, or if it's best to just wait till the truck is fixed.

It's a quicker process than you'd think. Or it least it was when I LL'd a Ford HD some years back.

Every state has different lemon laws. I recommend contacting the BBB as they offer free lemon law legal services.

Just keep in mind that for the most part, if you initiate a LL (as opposed to a buyback), communications to you from Stellantis, the dealer. or ramcares is going to shut down. They'll turn it over to the attorney's and only work through them (theirs and yours).

And subject to change. I had always seen CO as one of the worst with only 1st year ownership covered. I recently learned they modified the LL here to 2 years, 24K, and cover small business as well as personal. Changed last August. The only good thing Polesmoker has ever done for the state.

I don't know if I have ever heard of a 2019+ truck with this issue...sounds like you need a buy back and go with a 3500.
