I am on my 4th Dodge/Ram (Dakota, Durango, 1500, 1500), with my current one being a 2015 Lone Star with 157k+ miles. I had been towing a variety of trailers, with the last one being a 21' Toy Hauler. The truck had no issue pulling it, but we have now upgraded to a 43' Fifth Wheel, which required a beefier truck. I late April we went out and ordered a new 3500, or at least we thought we had. On 4/28 I had sent an e-mail firming up the order and they said I didn't need to come in and do the deposit right then, just next time I was passing by which was a few weeks later. Fast forward to June 14th and I call up to check the status only to be told "we don't have a truck on order for you".
I then went to a different dealer and re-ordered using the original build sheet. 22 weeks later it was still in D status, and best I could tell was due to the order being a single wheel base instead of a dually. Since their customer service was lacking on even trying to get an update or reason for me, I cancelled that order and went to dealer #3.
We are now 9 weeks in and my order (now as a dually) has status code JB so it is an actual truck. Getting so close to finally having it, but also getting close to the March 7th date of needing it for a week long trip with the trailer.
