Multiple Warranty Trips to Dealership - Seeking some advice/help

I want another Ram...100%. Just not THIS Ram. I'd even bump up to a 3500 this time around.
That’s the boat I’m in now. Fortunately I’ve only been down once for less than a week. But 99% I’m ordering a 3500 HO SRW and the other packages I settled to go without on the 2500.

Did you have the same issue? I was down 2 weeks the first time, then probably another collective week and a half for the other issues, and I assume I'll be down another two weeks this time. It sucks.

Are you looking to dump your 2500 due to the same problem?

What I can't stand about my situation, is that this truck is exactly the way I wanted it. Can't imagine it's easy to find a 3500 Fire Red, Laramie Level 2 (or B now), 12" screen, night edition, SRW, 12" screen, 360 camera, with auto steps right now. Plus the extras I out on it can be more difficult to find now. Had to wait 2 months for my electric bed cover alone. *Sigh*

Yup, CP4 went out on the last trip of the move on a Sunday afternoon north of Vegas with 105 temps on the shoulder of I-15. Dealer we got it towed too had the kit in stock and got warranty approval fairly quick. I’ve been aware and had to stop visiting here to stop the stress and just drive it. Repair quality has been fine so far.

I don’t love the Silver Sport Laramie. I want White again and go Night Ed 3500.

Got the truck back. Fuel line to injector number 5 came off because it wasn't torqued down. Turns out injector number 3 and 4 were also not torqued properly. This was the reason fuel was spraying everywhere and it killed the power to the engine. Unbelievable to me. When does this nightmare end?

I have a 650 mile trip to San Diego in two weeks and will be pulling the travel trailer again, but I can't in good conscience tow it with this truck with my family. I'm going through Oakland with no highway shoulders, over a bridge, up the Grapevine grade, through Los Angeles with no shoulders to pull over if I break down again. I'll be borrowing a truck or renting a truck for this vacation so I can have more assurance that we'll make it safely.
I'm currently at 13,000 miles and have had nothing but issues since the original CP4 failure at 9,800 miles.

Hey, brand new to diesel truck ownership. I’ve got a 2020 2500 Laramie Mega Cab and just had it in the shop for almost four weeks with a fuel pump failure. Same deal here, threw metal shavings into the whole system. Bought it CPO, so thankfully the warranty covered it, but I just picked it up today and it looks like another cp4. Odd thing is that I originally took it in for a loud mechanical whine during acceleration that was drowning out the sound of the engine, but no power failure or warning lights of any kind. It was pouring rain on the east coast when I picked it up, but now that’s it’s cleared I can still hear the whine. I’m headed back in tomorrow to have the tech sit in the vehicle with me. Hopefully not a persistent issue.

May first post, so sorry if it’s in the wrong place. It’s a bit challenging to wade through some of the other cp4 related threads and this was useful to know what someone else experienced. Good luck on your end and sorry your dealing with this frustration.

Make sure, assuming they put in the Symmetrical (large dimple) CP4.2, that they loaded the CORRECT SOFTWARE.

More than one repair has been botched and subsequently failed a second time due to inept dealer techs not updating the software.

Yep, they originally failed to program it correctly on mine and the grinding noise was terrible.

Thanks for this. Yes, looks like they put in a CP4.2 and I talked to the mechanic today, who said he performed the software update. Still getting the whining noise, but I’m going to post some details in a new thread. Thanks again and to the OP for letting me piggyback on the thread.
