I keep going back and forth with swapping mufflers. Magnaflow 19493 is my main looker but still on the fence. Some say drone and some say no drone, some say it’s loud and other say it’s not. Although most say that get a MPH increase with the less restrictive muffler over the large factory can. If there an option out there that is less restrictive than factory to be able to benefit the performance but as quiet or only mildly louder than stock. I know this sounds silly but I can not make up my mind.

From what I understand, there will be little to no performance or mileage gain by swapping out the exhaust. The Magnaflow muffler swap is probably the most cost effective, and I don't think it'll have too much, if any, drone, since you'll leave the resonator in.

My 35 Horsepower Kawasaki, V-twin, ZTR mower sounds better than my 2019 6.4 Hemi Ram does stock!!!!!

Tomorrow, 11-18-2020, I am having a 409 series FLOWMASTER muffler installed and we are going to leave the Resonator in place. A stainless steel dual outlet exhaust tip will replace the stock one aft of the resonator. MDS valves will remain in place and functional.

My K&N filter will also come in tomorrow from Amazon Prime.

The exact same mod's were done to my new 2009 Hemi Ram 5.7 and the results were amazing!

I will report back about the results and take some pictures and maybe a iPhone video with sound clip!

Sam:)

So to clarify, you are going to a shop to do a before/after dyno?

You said "The exact same mod's were done to my new 2009 Hemi Ram 5.7 and the results were amazing!"
To show 'results' it would have to be quantified with a before/after test of some kind...otherwise it is rather objective.
Based on the original comment I thought you were going to have it run on a dyno.... my bad.

I believe what he meant by results were the sound, throttle response, smiles-per-gallon increase you get from both of those mods. All of our 'seat of the pants dyno feels' are subjective to ourselves and our dear trucks, but since we all have them, the 'results' can be understood from our own experiences.

The OP asked for something that would 'benefit performance'... an opinion is not a result.

I guess, any performance gains would just be a perk if they happen to be there. I e talked myself out of the magnaflow d-fit or the Mufflex after reading so many reviews of the love hate. There is not a shop local to me who can bend 3.5 pipe and they want to weld in 3 inch and flare the ends to fit the 3.5 stock pipe. I’m not a fan of “we can make it work” mentality. So I have decided if this mod is going to happen then I’ll go with the Magnaflow #19200 stainless full kit. It come with a new muffler, resonator, full pipe and tip. It also moves up to a 4 inch pipe. Internet reviews seem good and sound clip make it sound like a good mellow tone and not obnoxious. Now it’s just biting the bullet and paying for it as it’s a full kit. All my little mods are done on the truck. It’s just hard now to pay the bigger money for the last few mods.

I don't hate anything about my Magnaflow direct fit. The install was a little tiresome, but I got it done in about an hour. The sound is a little loud on cold start, but it sounds very mature. Inside the truck, I can have a normal conversation on the highway and not notice it. I really only notice it under throttle or taking off from a stop. Also when I remote start it in the parking garage at work. That always supplies a grin. I have a cold start video on youtube of the muffler on my truck, and that's the loudest it ever is.

It is if his opinion of the throttle response and sound quality change. The modification resulted in an opinion change. If you want specific results, ask specific questions.

What gears does your truck have? I would like exhaust but with 4.10 gears I’m around 2000 rpms on the interstate and am in MDS most of the time in town. What do you think of the sound in MDS? Is it super noticeable?

4.10s and 35s. It's not great in MDS, but no worse than stock really. I don't even notice it anymore most of the time.
