Can anyone explain to me with the front and rear facing mirror lights are supposed to be useful for? There is a little button on the door that turns on each light (only in park) but I don't know why I need these lights?

They should work in reverse aswell its for backing trailers up at night

Except in California and maybe some other locations where they limit the usage and you have to re-enable them.

The rear lights are great for backing a trailer, or backing into a tight spot. I think the front ones would be good for driving in tight places as well, or in a forest trail, as they throw light out to the sides pretty well. They're definitely "utility" lights, not off road spotlights though.

But the front ones won't turn on when in Drive. So I am trying to figure out what they are supposed to be for.

Where do you live?

I'm in TN, bought at MD
Hmm, you shouldn't have any issues. Do they come on in park?

Also, do you have someone looking at them from the front to tell you if they're on or off? They're not going to overpower your headlights towards the front, so if there's no one looking for you the best way to tell would be to turn the headlights off and pull up close to a wall, or event better yet, fold the mirrors in and then you can see the lights from the cab.

Yeah, I tried them in my garage, in park and in drive. I can see how they work in Park, but once I switch to Drive, they go off

These mirror side/backup lights are great for unloading when we get to the cabin late at night. I’m excited to try the 2023 mirrors, I think the forward facing lights will be a nice addition.

I can see having the forwards for night time flat tire changing or if parked and idling when you just need to run into the house for a minute. Are they time out programmed?

Same for mine. I've been hoping to find the bypass setting in Jscan to override this. I think the lights are awesome, I just want them to be able to be used when driving slow on trails or parking my camper.

I think they would also be useful parked with the mirrors folded in to provide light on the side. I have to fold my 2020 mirrors forward if I need that.

They do work with the mirrors folded, so they’re not completely useless at least.

Same here ... If I'm in drive, they will not come on. I'd love to have the rear ones come on especially when I'm backing up at night into a tight spot.

BTW I have a 2023 Power Wagon bought in TX shipped to NY

The rear ones will work in reverse, you just have to push the button. It’s the front ones that won’t work if you’re moving.
