Lumpskie's Prospector (Diesel Power Wagon) Build

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. While I'm hopeful that this works well for obvious reasons, it's still possible that the bushings will wear unreasonably fast due to the additional moving parts and stress.

It's possible that the guys at CJC are biased towards the products they sell, and the fact they are tight with Carli, but in my experience they have been super knowledgeable and stand up guys. It's also possible that "handle like crap" is a bit of a personal feeling. Some people think that spacer lifts with fix 2.0 shocks off the shelf and 22x14s ride better than stock, so there is a lot of personal opinion at play here.
I have some articulink arms for sale; here's why. I put them on both sides, we have lots of sand around here, and with the articulink arms installed I would get front axle hop when spinning in the sand. Full disclosure, I tested with Carli-tuned King 2.5 Resi shocks. The articulation with the the front swaybar disconnected was at least double what it is stock with the sway bar connected. I think with the gas engine (less weight) the arms are great, but too soft for the weight of the diesel engine. Just my $0.05 worth from my testing...

Do you guys happen to know the torque spec for the track bar bolts? It looks like I need to remove a tie rod end in front... anyone know the torque spec for that one?

That is exactly why I only used 1 articulink and kept 1 stock. The remaining stock arm seems to keep axle hop at bay (in snow in my case) while the articulink allows for more travel... it's a middle ground that works for me. I also have stock springs with my AEV lift and no sway bar.

I have a question for all of you guys. The one thing that really annoys me about my truck is the electronic throttle. It seems be really laggy... and non linear in the throttle response. Is there a tune out there that just makes the throttle respond quickly and linearly? (not looking for the truck to feel faster... really, I'd like to be able to slowly crawl it when I want to)

The Banks Pedal Monster seems to be one of the top dogs. Did one my buddies 21 2500 cummins and it makes a world of difference!

I had my truck tuned by Calibrated Power. My dually was tuned by PPEI. Both companies notably improved throttle response on the specific trucks. I have no experience with pedal commanders and such, my understanding is there is no real difference between them and just pressing harder on the pedal, because they don't change anything except the rate the truck requests throttle, but YMMV.

One thing I will say, for our Cummins equipped trucks, is you notice the lag in the turbo and the way it builds power. So any crawling over obstacles (rocks, tree stumps, downed trees, etc.) you really need to use two feet to build and release power. This engine is ideal for a lot of things, but playing in the rocks is not the thing it's best suited to, from my experience. Doesn't stop me though ;)

While the pedal monster and similar devices are popular, they aren't actually removing any lag. All they're doing is amplifying the signal from the pedal, so it's acting as though you've pressed it further than you have. You'd need a way to modify the actual programming to improve the response. Also, as @UglyViking said, you're always going to be fighting some turbo lag the trying to crawl.

You guys get it. I'm looking for something that helps reduce the latency in the system... not looking for something that amplifies the signal. I don't really care about the turbo lag because I don't need (and in most cases don't want) large throttle outputs. I'd like the ability to fine tune small throttle inputs without having to wait a half second for the throttle to do anything. It almost seems like they use a time weighted average of pedal inputs to create the throttle response in stock form. It also seems like the tow mode reduces that time a bit. I suspect the motivation here is to do this to maximize fuel mileage. My use cases are that I want to be able to crawl the truck and want to control the truck better in a slide... I drive in a lot of ice and would like to be able to guide the truck through a smooth drift rather than have it do nothing than slam the throttle on.

Do you guys think the pedal monster, Calibrated Power tune or any other SW would do what I'm looking for?

Thanks for the help

Not really. They're all just going to do the amplification thing. Any actual delay in response will still be there, you'll just get a bigger jump afterwards.

That sounds like the opposite of what I would want... Really, I'd like it to behave like an old fashioned cable throttle. Faster response... less extreme response... more linear

Your only real option is probably a full tune, like UglyViking above. Hard to say exactly how much improvement there will be though.

4 low ?
