... until you are in an accident and the insurance adjuster sees they are missing. "NHTSA required" speaks to liability not whether the truck will function.

as for the intercooler guard.....$299 is a bit steep. Could have a local machine shop make one in 0.250" and powdercoat for less....just syin'

Mine must have rattled loose and fallen off :shrug:
