Every so often I get a low coolant light on the dash. It occurs in my (steep) driveway upon start up. After a few seconds and on level ground it goes away.
I've checked the reservoir and the level looks good.
First question is - does anybody else have experience with this happening?
Second - is there a secondary cooling system? The intercooler is air-to-air, isn't it?

The intercooler is air to air.

How steep is your driveway? That would be quite the angle to trigger a coolant sensor!

I started getting this recently too. Figured my level was just on borderline and my driveway is steep and I park backed in so the nose is down. It goes away before I'm at the top of my street so I haven't worried about it.

I occasionally get the light. Have been for several years now. All is well.

Check in the snow for the red coolant under your truck. I’ve had a slow leak that always reappears in the winter. I think it’s actually the block heater that’s leaking. I’ve tried to get the dealership to resolve it but I think one day I’ll just fix it myself. It will also crystallize as red crusty gunk around the leak if you can find it.

Usually have to top off my coolant once or twice a winter due to this.

I've looked for evidence of leakage with no success. I assume the sensor is in the reservoir, but that really doesn't make sense since the level is at the cold full mark. If the sensor is located in the radiator though, perhaps an air bubble is the culprit.
My main concern is/was that these vehicles have gotten so complicated that not all systems are out in the open and easy to identify. I thought it might be possible for me to be checking a reservoir in one spot under the hood (which is fine) while another reservoir going unnoticed could be low.
My radiator was replaced some months ago so it's possible the system didn't get completely purged.

Add a little coolant and it should go away, it can look in range and still trip the light
