Bought a used 2022 ram 2500 diesel with 28,000 mile. Less then 3 weeks ago and it's been in the service department at the dealership twice for the same problem coolant idiot light comes on about every other day refill with around a gal of premix coolant. The dealer is having a hard time finding the problem I can't find a leak anywhere. Wondering if it might be a head gasket or a crack block.

A gallon a day more than likely would have to be an internal leak. That would show itself quickly even if it were burning off before hitting the ground, leaving a large amount of residue behind. EGR cooler is a contender, along with HG as mentioned. At 28k I’d think EGR cooler before HG unless severely overheated, with used who knows. Checking egr is easy, there’s 2 clamps that hold the EGR crossover pipe on. remove them and if the pipe is clean that’s the leak area as it should be sooty. Let us know..

Got a call from the dealership service department. I bought this used truck around a month ago and have only driven it less than 5 days. They replaced some of the cooling system last time. Now they are telling me need to replace the EGR cooler it's leaking internally. It's still under warranty. I'm getting tired of having a vehicle had to cancel a dentist appointment today with the VA it's a long wait to get in, need to be able to get my wife to her doctor's appointments. We are both disabled she has MS with balance and cognitive issues. My lower back is fused still have problems with that. I'm having major surgery for something else in a month or two. Just hope the truck works longer than a week where I won't have to keep refilling the radiator every few days.

EGR cooler should be quick and easy, and aren’t very failure prone. I’d expect good service from the truck moving forward.
