Looking for Input from PW Owners

38K miles. Hmm.

Have them check tire balance.
Alignment. Factory specs suck. Need to set it to Thuren specs. Trust me on this.
Also air pressure. I run 35/30. Any more and tires don't wear even.
But you will get a TPMS warning.

If that doesent fix the shimmy, the front track bar may need to be replaced. I went with a Carli adjustable for mine.

Don't let them try and fool you into a steering stabilizers of some sort. Stock is fine. Anything else is a band aid to hide the real problem.

Good luck.

My sticker was 72K. I had worked a deal when I ordered it for 750 over invoice. This was right before the big chip scandle and noone had inventory. When that happened, I made sure my deal was still good.

I’m all over the place! lol. Have been running numbers and thinking about just putting the money I was going to use on a pre-owned and going with a new build instead. PW are made to be used and just unsure of how the previous owners used them. I’m a little picky on maint and other things. AND this was encouraged by the wife!!!!! Ladies and gents I have the approval!!!!!

Did you get a Full Kitchen pass?
Order what you want, no questions asked?

If you can wait for the new truck, I'd say order it and get exactly what you want. It also gives you a better chance on the deal as it's a sold truck and not going to sit on their lot, loosing them money. I used to get them for $500 over invoice when I was ordering Chevys.
IF you can find a 24 or 25 sitting on the lot that has what you want, then maybe you can get a deal on one that's been sitting there for awhile

Sure did! Let you know where I land.

Thanks! Took it for a test drive this afternoon and it's a noticeable difference for sure, in many ways. Threw my son in the backseat as he does not remember my 3rd gen 2500. lol. Told him to tell me what he thought of the ride, especially compared to my current 5th gen 1500. lol. It was impressive for sure. Had a little shimmy in the front end and could not tell if that was tire related or trail related (being knocked out of alignment). Previous owner put on Kuhmo RoadVenture AT2s so not too familiar with those. Told her have someone look at that and come to the table with the best offer...she came at me with $56,689. Looks to be pretty good price overall.
Get the Thuren alignment done and road force balance, I would try to get the dealer to do both first before buying and re-test drive.

If you’re coming from offroading a 5th Gen Crew Cab 6’-4” you are already familiar with the size offroad …the power wagon is actually a bit smaller (shorter wheelbase, narrower body). Here in CO, you definitely need to scope out trails before committing down them, or else you will be backing up a long way to find somewhere to turn around. If you really want to explore, you should get something smaller like a Jeep, but the PW is an awesome rig if you’re ok with wider / mellower trails. That said, it is extremely capable, if it does fit, and will walk up many challenging obstacles without breaking much of a sweat.

The PW will have no problem towing the trailer you listed. Just consider the PW and extremely over built 1500 with regards to payload and towing.

Thanks all for the responses. One more question for those that maybe have moved from the 1500 to the 2500 is the long term comfort of the rear seat. Since this is a family hauler for our camping trips, want to make sure my other family members are comfortable. The back of the 1500 is HUGE and my kids (and Lab) have done very well back there on long hauls. Hate the tunnel in the 3/4s and see Chevy and Ford do not have them. Any input welcome.

Hate the tunnel in the 3/4s
I don't really have passengers in the back seat so can't say anything about it. But the tunnel is only like 1-2" high, if that. Compared with other RWD cars I've had, that's nothing.
I doubt it would impact rear passenger comfort. The 1500 used to have it, too, until the Gen5. Maybe they'll be able to get rid of it with the real Gen5 2500, who knows?

The Ford F250 has a huge back seat, and like you say - the floor is flat - so it feels even bigger. In addition, the bed of the Ford (6' 9") is 5 inches longer than the bed of the Power Wagon (6' 4"). The Tremor package on the Ford F250 gives you a lift, 35-inch tires, a rear locker, and a Torsen limited slip differential in the front. The Ford has a much higher payload than the Power Wagon, and can tow more. The Ford can carry a slide-in camper, the PW cannot; if you want a camper for the PW you need to look at one of the lighter campers (GoFast is probably the lightest, but there are a bunch of other light-weight campers that also work).

If you are comparing gas to gas, the 7.3 Godzilla in the Ford outperforms the 6.4 Hemi, but the ZF 8-speed in the Power Wagon seems smoother and less finicky than the ten-speed in the Ford.

The Power Wagon has softer springs than the Ford, and is coil sprung in all four corners; the Ford has leaf-springs in the rear. As a result, the PW flexes off-road much more than the Ford, and is a smoother ride on-road when both trucks are empty or lightly loaded. The PW has locking diffs both front and rear. The PW has a disconnecting front anti-sway bar, the Ford does not. The PW comes with 33-inch tires, which are pretty small if your off-roading is "moderate" or harder (according to the OnX Offroad rating system). You can upsize to a 35-inch tire using the factory PW wheels; a 35-inch spare should fit in the factory location (my winter "35" fits fully inflated, but my summer "35" needs to be deflated to fit). Because the PW has a smaller back seat, and a shorter bed, it is 11 inches shorter than the Ford overall - which is a significant advantage off-road.

If you are concerned about the rear seat in the PW, take the whole family to the dealership and load up. They may not let you do an 8-hour road trip, but a 45-minute drive should provide some helpful data.

Good luck with the decision!

Ok, my initial results. Picked up the trailer to take home and load up.
'21 75th PW.
A few mods which are in my build thread.
35x12.50 17 tires with a recalibrate for the increase in tire size. 55 PSI hot. Forgot to add air before I left the house, so did it at the gas station before I got the trailer

35 foot triple slide out. About 7500 dry. Empty right now.
Full tank of gas, 10 gal in can in the bed, 2 man lift generator
Started at 4800 ft elevation. Home is at 5200 feet. Had to decent hill climbs.
Cruised at 70 with no problem. Actually climbed the first hill at 70, till the slow cars in front forgot to get the gas to get up the hill so had to slow to 60.
She hit 5500RPMs several times while accelerating, but took it like a champ. Should be no issues tomorrow when it's full loaded. Got 8.1 MPG according to my lie O meter, but mines pretty accurate.
Actually started at 7.8 MPG before I hooked up the trailer. But I was doing a bit of acceleration getting on the highway and climbing the hills passing people doing about 80 MPH.

^ One of the reasons I went with a mega cab., made a huge difference traveling with kids/dogs etc. So much more room and storage, behind the seat, under the seat etc. Made all the difference. Of course you can't get a mega in a PW but the more you ask questions it sure seems like a non-PW (maybe a mega) is a better option for you? Your already talking about mods to make it work for you so food for thought.
I was "wow'd" by the PW at the dealer and purchased one (initially was going in to get another diesel) but after 11 months of ownership I traded it and got the mega cab diesel and never looked back. Diesel may not be what you need but a mega cab is a game changr if you have a family.
