Just got my lomax trifold cover delivered today and when installing the clamps, I noticed where the clamp squeezes the pinch weld and rail of the cover, the pinch weld is bending in order to get a tight grip.

Is this a concern? I torqued all clamps to 15 ft lbs, and lomax actually calls for all clamps to be 20 ft lbs, so I obviously actually did less.

Thats normal it will not stay bent when removed

No expert on tops, but I think I'd pick up a piece of aluminum flat bar and fit some spacers in there. Still get a good tight clamp without bending the rail. Just a thought.

Thanks, I hope not, may try to loosen tomorrow to see if they go back to straight.

I guess even if they stay a little bent, it won't hurt anything.
I even hook straps under the rail and have never had any bends after removing the straps
