Hey all I need some advice. We we traveling yesterday from WI to Colorado. We are pulling a 29 ft travel trailer. In Nebraska the truck went into limp mode. I had the cruise on and we we doing 68-70 for about 2 hours. Pulled off at the next exit and fueled up and just happeNed a gentleman pulled up in a 3500 next to me. I asked him if his truck ever went into limp mode and he said he had a reader and could check my codes I asked him who Carrie’s a reader and he jokingly said he drives a ram. Well what we found was see pic. Shift solenoid. He asked if we should clear code. I said yes and check engine lite went away. Truck worked normal so we drove to a local dealer and explained our situation. Thier response was with out that code there wasn’t much they could do. So after much discussion we decided to press on. We drove another 300 miles and no issues . We are heading to AZ so my question is any advice? They do have to drop the pan and they said probably wouldn’t do that unless there was a fault code. Truck has 17000 mi. 2022 Ram Laramie Cummins

thanks

If it happens again do not reset the code if you want the dealer to do anything about it. The check engine light will eventually extinguish if the fault does not reoccur.

Okay. But I was in limp mode kinda stuck. I read where some folks turned their truck off then back on and ck engine went out. Frustrating. But thanks for all the responses

My tranny functioned normally after I turned the truck off to check things, then restarted. Check engine light was still illuminated. Check engine light eventually extinguished after a week. Fault code remained and I did not reset it until I could see the dealer. Tranny never entered limp mode again in the 1k miles I put on the truck before the dealer replaced the Shift D solenoid.
