One of the reasons that I bought the mega was to have a place to sleep in the winter time when I went on track/wheeling trips. Seems some companies make generic "back seat air mattresses" but if they are indeed generic, seems that it'll probably be too small for a mega cab.

Hoping to see some sleeper setups from folks who also use their megas for the occasional camping spot when it's cold/rainy.

I used an inflatable mattress, a pillow and a sleeping bag. Nothing fancy really.

Why do you need anything special? I'd just carry a thick blanket to sleep on if I were sleeping in it.

Never said anything about "needing" anything special, just figured I'd ask the question to see if anyone had done anything I hadn't thought of.

Didn't realize the only people that would respond were 10x more manly than me lol

This thread died too soon. Next time I make my Bed in the Back I will take some pics for you. I used to sleep in my Crew Cab Ram and this Truck is night and day different. No more leg cramps!

Thread didn't die. It just went to sleep! :D

OK, here you go. My Foam is 3" thick high density. I do not like memory foam although it would be cheaper because you could just cut down a mattress. I want something that will support me and spring right back. This piece is 48X63" although with my seats where they are adjusted you could fit a 52X63 piece in there. Just could not find this foam wider than 48" at a reasonable price or possibly at all. Plastic Bananna bag covers the foam to keep it clean.

So, I ran out of room for all my Junk in the storage compartments. I found these 2 plastic bins that fit perfect with the seat folded up and they fit perfect in the footwell with the seat folded down and provide just a little support for the seat. I like a large level surface that can support my body weight evenly distributed. So I cut foam to fit all the voided area around the headrests. Each piece is marked where it goes.

I also cannot stand lights shining in my eyes when I sleep. So I made window shades and blacked them out so they do not reflect light. I ordered my Truck with 6 person seating so I can just shimmy across the console/folded seat to get in the back if it is raining or if I do not want anyone to see me get in the back.

WOW!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!
I kind of made a similar setup for my Crew Cab. But I could never straighten all the way out when I wanted to, and that bothered my Hips. I also had a hard time turning over in the Crew Cab. So, I don't know how many times I was in agonizing pain from cramping my legs. Now it's almost like being at home in bed. Yayyyy MegaCab!

lol, guys will spend thousands of dollars on near useless suspension upgrades, leveling kits, tires, etc but if you ask about a mattress you get shunned. Seems to be one of the more practical things someone would want to do to these trucks.

That is awesome DRAGRAM. That could double as a Shaggin' Wagon! Yeah baby! (in my best Austin Powers voice).
Seriously, that would beat the crap out of sleeping on the cold ground that is for sure.

I am 62 and single and I still think about that. The MAIN reason I put all that effort into this sleeping setup is because when I am sleeping in the Truck, I am "WITH" my belongings that are kept in that Trailer (right now it's a SRT Super Stock and in the past it was a SRT Demon). I have a real hard time just going into a Hotel and being out of site of my Rig. Even if I do get a hotel room I have to be able to look out the window and see it and what's going on around the area. The second and third reason are about evenly split between cost and convinience. The other night coming back from Bakersfield, from a Race, I waited until I was in Tehachapi because of the elevation (it would be cooler). But it was nice to pull in at 2 AM and I never even opened the truck Door. I just shimmied into the back and went to sleep.1126201503_HDR.jpg

Useless? For you maybe, for others not so much. I take my trucks off the beaten path, (not talking about gravel roads but not rock climbing or mud bogging either) and the more ground clearance the better and ground clearance = bigger tires = lift + better suspension.

Kudos to the guys turning the back of their megas into a 5 star hotels but for me personally a sleeping bag and a pillow will suffice to spend a few nights here and there.
