Let's See Some Mega Cab Sleeping Setups

I am 62 and single and I still think about that. The MAIN reason I put all that effort into this sleeping setup is because when I am sleeping in the Truck, I am "WITH" my belongings that are kept in that Trailer (right now it's a SRT Super Stock and in the past it was a SRT Demon). I have a real hard time just going into a Hotel and being out of site of my Rig. Even if I do get a hotel room I have to be able to look out the window and see it and what's going on around the area. The second and third reason are about evenly split between cost and convinience. The other night coming back from Bakersfield, from a Race, I waited until I was in Tehachapi because of the elevation (it would be cooler). But it was nice to pull in at 2 AM and I never even opened the truck Door. I just shimmied into the back and went to sleep.View attachment 20815

Nice ride! I haven't followed the SRT stuff lately, what does said Super Stock run? Is it similar to a Demon? Have any other pics? I'm a drag racer too and have a few different toys

My Foam piece is 48" wide and I am 5'9" tall. I have about a 4" gap between the foam and the back of the seats. So, approximately 52" front to back depending on your seat adjustment and I am relatively sure the side to side is 62"

I just walked to my back garage and double checked for you. My piece is 63" side to side. But it has a couple notches in it to clear the C pillars. You need to be in the 62 to 64" range depending on how maxed out you want to be with the foam possibly compressing by the door panels etc. Even 60" would be fine. That 4" gap to the back of the seats that I have does not bother me at all............

Hey, everyone.

I just bought a 2014 2500 Mega (named Moby) and was having the same thoughts about sleeping in the cab. I wanted to pick up a Kodiak/Topkick specifically because of the powered fold-out bed in the rear. For those who don't know, their rear seat bottom slides forward while the backrest lays down, kind of like how some futons transform. I haven't found out if that's exclusive to the Monroe conversions, or was a feature of the truck. I've attached pictures for reference.

The prices of them have gone through the roof, so Moby was my second choice.

I've been trying to find a company that makes a whole seat, or at least a conversion kit, to get the mega cabs' rear seat do the same thing. I looked here to see if someone here had an answer for that. I went ahead and registered to post this, hoping that maybe someone will look into what I'm talking about and share it with everyone.

As envious as I am of the heavy-duty's getting the big screen from the 1500s, having that back seat that folds down is the only stock "need" that I feel my truck is lacking.

My goal is to have a hybrid overland/daily driver. I've pretty much only ever owned little four cylinder Volkswagens, but I decided I needed a more "capable" vehicle to accomplish all that. I've already got my Deck Drawers and am waiting for my camper cover to arrive (another ten weeks). I'm probably picking up the welder I want tomorrow. I still need to get my solar setup, snorkel, lights, roof racks, and all those wishlist items. I'm probably picking up the solar panels tomorrow - I'm looking at the 100w folding panel kit at Harbor Freight.

Any suggestions you guys have are very welcome.

lol, guys will spend thousands of dollars on near useless suspension upgrades, leveling kits, tires, etc but if you ask about a mattress you get shunned. Seems to be one of the more practical things someone would want to do to these trucks.

Ever considered sleeping in the trailer? We do that all the time at the track.
My son has a thick air mattress and a sleeping bag, I have a camping cot, a thin memory foam mattress on it and a sleeping bag.
We have a small Honda 2200W generator running on the truck bed with an aux 6 Gallon marine tank. That powers the 1500W electric heater in the trailer, if necessary.
Maybe we add a Dometic roof AC onto the trailer, for the hotter nights.
We also have a Dometic CX55 cooler running off the trailer battery, which gets charged by the generator as well.
At the track I am not worried about leaving the racecar outside, everyone does that. We just put the tools inside the trailer.
When sleeping at a rest stop we just park between the semis and put the front seats back. A pillow and sleeping bag work pretty good for the 5 hrs until we keep on trucking. That is as good as flying business class overseas with Delta air lines. LOL.

funny you mention this. If I am sleeping in my truck it is for 1 of 2 reasons. Most likely is that I have my enclosed trailer and I am driving for 3-4 days. Over my last trip I found myself sitting back there one night eating a sandwich for dinner in a rest stop when it occurred to me that I could setup a cot back there and have a very comfortable bunk for the night.

The other reason is that my wife threw me out.
