My procrastination paid off and I managed to snag a nice set of White Knuckle sliders off of Facebook Marketplace for a steal. They were for a diesel, so it was necessary to modify them a bit.

For anyone that finds themselves in the same situation:
The diesel HD's have no MDS/cylinder deactivation like the Power Wagons. So the diesels don't use the mass dampers and therefore use an additional mounting location on the frame up front. So, if using the diesel version on a gas HD, the front slider mounting brackets on both sides need to be cut off as the mass dampers obstruct the mounting position. Some Google-foo indicates that unplugging or removing the mass dampers causes a service light and some additional unwanted NVH, so it's not recommended to tamper with them (below: mass damper on passenger side interfering with diesel version mounting point.)

From what I can tell, both the diesel and gas version of the sliders have 4 rails on the drivers side. But the diesel version has a gap between the second and third mounting arms to accommodate the DEF tank underneath. The gas version essentially moves the front bracket (from the diesel) 2 positions back to fill the DEF tank gap from the diesel. (Below is after cutting the front most mounting arm off.)

Driver's side is definitely more annoying than the passenger side as the fuel tank skid plate obstructs access to the inside of the frame where the backing plates need to go.

(Note: don't drop the skid plate on your face when you remove it.)

But once the front bracket from the diesel version is cut off, the installation proceeds as normal. You will just end up with three mounting arms on the drivers side instead of 4.

The passenger side is pretty straightforward after cutting the front mounting arm off. Fortunately, you're left with 4 arms just like the gas version. (I believe the gas version has a reinforcement gusset/bar from the first diesel mounting arm location to the second mounting location on driver and passenger sides.)

(I actually like it better with no sliders or steps, but that's not a good option for Moab :D )

(The far right mounting arm gets cut off to avoid conflict with the mass damper.)

One more item checked off my list before our cross country trip.

I wonder if the additional 500+lbs up front on the Cummins trucks make the additional slider support necessary?

Regardless, after Moab they're never going to look that good again haha
I think you're right about the weight. Looking at pictures of other gas WK sliders, the front mounting bracket looks to be in almost the same position. So I'm wondering if they used the same geometry for the diesels and just used the front bracket for weight like you mentioned.

And I think the whole truck is going to have few more battle scars after Moab. Just gotta keep it shiny side up.

(Note: don't drop the skid plate on your face when you remove it.)

I know it's too late for you, but you don't have to remove that skid plate. Just undo the front and let it hang, it'll give you plenty of room to access where you need to. At least on my '21 when I did it.

And, yes, the driver's side sucks to do. SO much stuff in the way. Brake lines, wiring harness, fuel tank...just a bunch of truck where you need hands to be.

325/60/20 BFGs on XD wheels
2” spacer under rear factory air bags and 1 1/2” spacers on top of stock coils. Fox Carli shocks in a couple weeks.

2020 Level2 18x9 Methods and 37x12.5r18 Nitto Trail Grappler MTs.

Some cheap-arse puck level kit on the front which is the next project to replace with proper level kit and shocks

Was waiting for Ridge Grapplers, but was on back order with no date so went with the MTs. No more noisy than the (warn) Toyo AT3s that came off.

Small, plastic only trim on the back of the arch, usual place, and slight touch on right sway bar at full left lock.

Have nfab step system with removable steps. Not sliders, but provide a good amount of protection. Have slid on them fine, but not dropped onto them. Need lowish steps for wife and grandkids to get in. Also didn't want to add the weight of a proper slider.

These are 37's.
Ah ok, truck looks good!
Got a leveling kit or any kind of suspension lift?
Or just the tires, and if no lift do they rub or have to do any cutting?
Thanks in advance!

Thank you, I've had quite a few different trucks in my life, but I love this truck!
It is still stock, no suspension yet. Time to save up for one now. I had the stock rims before and they rubbed up against the radius arms and the sway bar. With the new rims, it rubbed on the back side of the fenders but some trimming was needed and it no longer rubs.

Awesome pic. Seeing mine is hydro blue also, it really makes me want to get those sliders and some bigger tires. Oh and also not live a 27 hour drive away from Moab. Haha.
Takes me about 32-34 hours of drive time to get out there. Its worth the drive. I'm sure we get some strange looks wheeling Moab with Florida plates. Then again living in Florida and having a PW with 37s and sliders gets me strange looks since every truck down here has 22" wheels that stick out 4" from the fender.
