Yes, that's my fear since I go out alone so much. I need to get a GPS emergency beacon.
I have the old DeLorme InReach. Garmin makes it now. It has been super helpful! The 2-way text communication is the reason I got it. I have never had to call for rescue, but it has helped me keep in contact with others when needed. It also makes my wife feel better about my solo trips.

That's why I travel in a like minded group. If something happens, we can at least be misrable together.

I go down to distant uninhabited areas in Baja. Some I'm not even sure GPS work in.

If it has view of the sky then GPS should work in 99% of the world. It's not like cell service.

Yes, I've been looking at the InReach as well. I just need to do it and make the investment. I do always tell friends and family where I'll be traveling and my route. They track me via my cell GPS. I need to add some sort of tracker app on my tablet in my truck too. It has GPS as well.

Inreach is awesome. Two years ago my wife freaked when I was busting on my son about watching videos on his phone and saying where we will be hunting in Colorado we won’t have cell service.

I then told her she will always be able to reach us in an emergency because I had just bought the InReach. One day I get a text on it because we hadn’t moved in over two hours and she was worried one of us was hurt. I texted back that we were hunting over a water hole and we were fine. It eased her mind. Also something nice about having the emergency beacon capability especially since my son got altitude sickness on the 4th day and we had to cut our trip short 5 days. We were camped near the road that night but if we were even only a mile from camp he was so incapacitated and the fact he is 6’5 and 230 lbs I could never have carried him up the mountain.

These are all good points. I went Tradesman because I really would rather have the truck as simple as possible like my Wrangler. The more simple, the less chance of things going wrong in the bush. Also, I am a fan of the Tradesman's grill.

I am loving the all vinyl interior with dogs, beach and camping trips. I will add LED headlights at some point I think but these aren't terrible either.

Wow! Very nice - very clean.

New member here just traded my 18 2500 mega cab laramie for a 2020 mega cab limited. Finding out after the fact the problems with the cp4.2 on the 20’s. Now I’m freaking out

Thank you for the pics!! Im debating between putting the antenna in a similar configuration at yours or use a stubby closer to the hood. Where did you route the cable to the cab?

No problem!
I ran my cable through the pictured hole in the bed and then along the frame rail with zap straps and then I drilled a small hole into the drivers side back seat underfloor cubby and then ran the cable underneath the drivers seat and then up behind the dash.
I considered the hood mounted option also but the higher the antenna the more it helps with signal and I would have torn the hood mounted antenna off by now with what I drive through for work.
I also love the coil they provide for the antenna as it gives it a lot of play with running into branches and stuff like that on the trails at work and on the weekends. If you need any other insight or pictures feel free to ask!
