LED LIGHT BAR recommendations

I have a grill guard on my 2022 3500. I’m considering adding additional lighting to the front end. I have space for a 22in light bar and a set of cube lights. I’ve read reviews on the Harbor freight model and the rough country black series. Both seem strong however Rough country is considerably more powerful. Any suggestions on which LED to choose?

I don’t know what your budget is but Baja designs makes a 20” bar, and cube lights, a bit more expensive than the brands you mentioned but quality is up there too.

Whatever you decide, I would not recommend any from Harbor Freight, TSC, or anything “cheap”. I have the Rough Country 30” curved back series on my truck and a 20” Blazer from TSC on my Honda Pioneer…. The cheap TSC one is garbage and already fogged up after 3 months, and isn’t nearly as bright. Compare light output and make sure you get Cree LED.

…does anybody see issue in tapping the high beam circuit for relay signal power?
I always have with less techno-vehicles, wondering if it’s a good idea on this one. If it would work, any idea of the most convenient place to access what color wire in a headlight harness?
A single 30” KC LED bar…

I tapped parking light for a relay for fog lights. If it’s going to a relay it’s just a signal wire, no real draw. Make a clean weatherproof connection to keep corrosion at bay in the future.

yeah..but I don’t want to make the truck angry, I’m leery of messing with the thing.

That’s how my Baja designs fog lights are set up; on the parking lights with a relay.

That's doable, but having the BDs turned on 100% of the time with the high beams on is risky. You know running any public road with the BDs turned on is illegal. If the law is in the area you are risking it. Even if there is no law around you will be pissing off other drivers. As good as you might be at flashing your headlights to low beams when necessary, it will piss off other drivers.

As good as you might be at flashing your headlights to low beams when necessary, it will piss off other drivers.

Back in the 90s when we lived in Alaska I wired my driving lights (stainless steel KC 100 watt), but with a seperate switch too.

If that separate switch was on the high beam switch could turn them on and off however when it was off just the high beams came on.

It worked great for me in that hitting a moose was major problem/wreck.

If I did that with my ram I could use one of the auxiliary switches.

Was looking at this today. Originally was going to get 4 KC Hilites and the Randy Ellis bar that screws in next to the tow hooks, but the BD bar is about the same price total so I’m on the fence. What are your Thoughts on it, do you like it?

How hard was it to install, can you get to it without taking off the front bumper/grille. Either way I need to get a switch box, don’t have stock aux switches, only thing my Laramie doesn’t have.

Installed the BD on my 2020, only had to remove the air dam assembly.

If you have a multimeter or even a simple test lite it’s pretty easy to figure out. Unplug the headlight, turn on the low beams, see what pin the low beams are. Put on the high beams and see what wire that is. Tap that guy and you’re all set.
