LED Cargo Bed Lights Wiring ?????

Hopefully the one I purchased will work

Do you happen to know does these fuses need to be turned on? Under the hood.
Im not sure how it works but in alphaOBD you will enable the feature to work
I've seen the cable you just posted. I just wasn't sure of the website. I went with something I found on Amazon in reviews someone mentioned this is why they purchased it.
I just purchased this cable yesterday. Should have it tonight.

I am not an expert but how I understand it is the cable you got is a "SGM?" and you will need access behind the cluster (which is a PITA to get to) instead if you use the cable I linked (and I use) it plugs into can buss modules just above your e-brake. Heres what others on forums have said;

"HD SGM is not as accessible and is located behind the instrument cluster, hence the confusion for some. Since it's such a PITA to get to, we use a different bypass cable that plugs into the CAN bus blocks. ETA: Said cable can also be used on the 1500 if desired."

I'd search around forums, youll find most use one that plugs into the can bus modules.

Send it back.

That cable is for 1500's.

Our SGM is behind the instrument cluster so it's a royal PITA to access and use that cable. Get one that plugs into the CANBUS blocks right behind the headlight switch.

P.S. Listen to the guys here, 99% of them are spot on when telling you what you need.

Thank you. I did just order it.

I just wanted to come back on here for the follow up. The cable that was recommended worked using the Alphaobd. Directions mentioned a green and white can bus. I had 2 green block 1 is the 2-row and block 2 was the 1-row.
Thank you for those that helped me.

My experience setting up this on my 2022 2500 was flawless thanks to all sharing in this thread. I Installed kit 82215795AB. Ran the wiring harness from the back to front both pin 17 of the C3 PDC (relay/fuse box near battery) connector and pin 16 of C7 BCM had wires landed which I removed and insulated at both locations. Programmed using Alpha OBD and the settings I set were;
CBC Config I/O: Bed Light Switch Input Present - Pin G16 > Enable
CBC Config I/O: Bed Lighting Present - Pin D6 > Enable

Appreciate all the contributions and also thank you to @Jimmy07

My 23 came without bed lights, and wasn't pre wired with existing pigtails near the taillights. I follow PilotB's advice and ran my factory light kit to the drivers side door sill and wiretapped the White with Brown(tan) tracer, then ground to an existing ground underneath the truck nearby. I now have lights that are working with the cargo lights button, and native functions like unlocking the doors/tailgate.

On my truck the bed wiring connector is in the location of the wire with the QR code in your pic. It’s wht/tan and black on the truck side and red black on the light side
Hi y'all! I found the connection under my truck where the white/tan wire connects to the red an black wires leading to the OEM bed lights. I tapped into the black and red wires with no luck. Am i supposed to tap into the white/tan instead? Glad I found this thread!

I tapped into the white/tan wire under the drivers side door sill. it's in a wire bundle with a bunch of wires.

When you say "no luck", is that before or after you enabled them in AlfaOBD?

Maybe I should clarify. I just realized I didn't give enough information. Sorry. I have the OEM bed lights that came when the truck was purchased. They work as they are supposed to. I am trying to add additional LED lights in the bed. When I tapped into the black and red wires that are connected to the white/tan wires, the new LED lights did not work. I traced the red and black wires to the driver side OEM bed light.

I don't know much about the wiring of the factory lights but I do know that some LED lights require that they are hooked up positive to positive and ground to ground but aren't labeled. Did you try reversing your wires?

I will try that!

Which wire from the bed light kit did you tap into the white w/brown tracer. The kit comes with 3 wires, one I'll assume is the power to the lights, the second I'll assume is for the lights switch, and the third gets capped off and is not used. And of course there's the ground also. The kit I received had the switch completely seperate from the light fixture.

Appreciate your assistance.

Alright folks. This one is stumping me. So far everything I've read on here has been spot on. And by that, I mean, just about all the install instructions and AlfaOBD guidance are the same. Here is my dilemma. I've got the 2024 Ram 2500, Cummins, and I'm preparing to install the OEM LED bed lights. You'll notice in the OEM install instructions; it gives the pin locations for the BCM and PDC. However, in the AlfaOBD Body_Chrysler_Info.log file (snippet attached), it shows a different pin location for the PDC. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks

My kit only had ground and power. If you do it the way I described, you only need Hot and Ground, and the lights come on in normal order with the Cargo lamp button on the light selector knob. I would assume in yours, that whichever is the wire that attaches to the battery is the one you need to tap into the white with tan tracer, and then your ground. You won't need the extra switch wire, as the white/tan wire gets power from the cargo lamp button.

When I unlock the truck, cargo lamps come on with outside lights, when I press the cargo lamp button, the lights come on. Hope this helps!

I believe mine was the same. I enabled them both and the lights work exactly as they should.

Anyone had success with JScan on this? Curious as I don’t see the option to turn on the relay output control via JScan.

How do you know which plug is c3?

I can’t believe how expensive the kit is. $300 seems pretty steep

When I bought the bed light kit it was ~$175. $300 is crazy! They aren’t even that bright. I added 60” light stop from Amazon to them cause they were not bright enough.
