Is the Dealer Able to Add XG9 and XN1?

I spent a bunch of time on the site the past couple days looking for an answer about the two codes.

XG9 and XN1

I am currently working with a dealer to try and get these added. I am getting the runaround on whether it can be done or not.

Does anyone know if these codes can actually be added? I read somewhere that just option codes could be added. I feel like these codes could go either way. Adding them seems possible but I just want to confirm the dealer or whoever has control can actually do it.

I know I can do Alfa... I am trying to go this route first. I want to exhaust this option before looking at other solutions.
 
Do you mean to a truck you have ordered and is not built yet? Or are you asking if a truck you own that has been built can have those options added to the truck by a dealer?

If it is the latter, then no. It is more than just programming by them or you with AlphaOBD. XG9 is the prep for the cameras which includes wiring.

This was discussed at-length in another thread here a while back. See HERE I believe the general consensus was that, if a truck did not come from the factory with the XN1 group, it could not be added at the dealer level later on. As you mentioned there’s an option to use AlphaOBD to do this, but it doesn’t sound like the dealer can do it.
 
Sorry, should have added it to my initial post.

When I ordered the truck I was told the camera system was on backorder and it would delay my truck being built for months. This was after 2 stop sale orders.

I was told they could add the codes later on by the dealer.

I have since sourced the surround kit for the trailer (XN1) and the trailer tire pressure sensor modules (XG9). All oem parts that were installed correctly to have the truck work as I need it. Last step is getting the codes turned on.

Was hoping for a clear, yes they can do it or no, once the truck is built it can not be done (a contradiction of what I was told when I ordered the truck new).

I reached out to RAM Cares and they said it is a dealer decision and if one will not do it, I should try a different one. That tells me it is possible...

Perhaps @Jimmy07 can chime in and clarify but I’m 90%+ positive the dealer cannot install XN1 after it leaves the factory. Not trying to bash, but I would take everything you’re told by a Ram dealer and Ram care with a grain of salt. In my experience, neither has a solid understanding of these trucks.
 
Highly unlikely a dealer can or will turn that on for you. You’re far better off doing it yourself using AlfaOBD.

For the trailer surround camera, in addition to the surround camera kit did you also install the trailer surround CVPM?
 
Yeah, I installed the CVPM as well.
 
Dealers have no (authorized) means to add sales codes that can't be added to a VIN. WiTECH can only code what is on that VIN build.

There were some add on sales codes that could be officially sold/added by the dealer but it appears those are not possible.

Any dealer doing this probably just has a tech with AlfaOBD in their back pocket.
 
The tech was able to work to get the codes added. Not through alpha either.

Worked with star or something to add them. I have a pic but can’t post through Tapatalk.

Trailer cam button is activated and tpms sensors worked great!
