I saw this bed side tool box last night for the first time. It appears to be a factory GM item. Have you guys seen anything like this available for our Ram trucks. I know there is the Ram Box, but I made a mistake and bought a truck without that option so there's no going back for me. I really wish I had them so when I saw these; it looked like they would be a nice setup.

Not going to help but dang that looks super nice. I'll stick around see if anyone knows.

I think I am going that route, but wanted to check for input on this setup first. When I last checked on the swing case; they were on backorder and blamed Covid.

I’ve seen YouTube videos on this and there’s been a lot of people that loved them. Thinking of doing this on my Ram eventually.

I had one of those for a bit. With a set of jumper cables, a tow rope and some ratchet straps, mine broke in less than 3 months. I then repurposed the hinge onto a surplus ammo can, but that wasted too much space, so I ended up abandoning the whole idea.
Bummer. I am really surprised to hear that. I have had them in my last three trucks and never had a problem. I store tire chains, tools, climbing ropes, and etc. They are very handy.

I have a Swing Case and it serves the purpose. The newer ones come with a lock piece that fits over the hinge point to where you can still operate the "swing" action but the box stays locked down. Has nothing to do with the lid but it is keyed alike . (the lid locks independent of the swing action) Previous years models didn't have this option. Beats having to use a padlock to keep the case from walking. (still do use a padlock when the need arises) I keep my additive and funnels and hitch things in there. Keep the big box clean and if'n anything does spill, pull it off and hose it out. Holds ice too...get creative with a small drain plug.
Just a heads up if you plan on adding the factory gooseneck/fifth wheel electrical plug and I'm thinking the bed light switch, Go with the passengers side one. The drivers side one covers all those "cut-outs" up. Mine's on the drivers side but I can see where thinking into the future could be beneficial to someone.

The pictures of the Swing Case look like it covers up the tie down loops at the back of the bed. Is that what you find with yours?

I, along with other here have used Decked draw system, I know doesn't work for all, depending on how your bed is used, but since I don't use a 5th wheel it suits me great and usability of the draws is great. I also installed the track bars and am able to mount a great deal on top easily now

You will have to fit that variable to your needs. The lower loops are still usable. There is space behind the case. I store an "X" wrench behind it and have room to close and latch the case. Could always go with the "Chain" mod that I use.

Do this....if you want. depending on your bed length, get two lengths of steel chain (not what you would tie up the Queen Mary with but...) Add about a foot over your bed length. So 8' would be a 9' length etc etc. Grab 4 of those chain add-a-link thingies that have a threaded collar in the middle that when you screw them shut it closes up the gap. Use the 4 tie down points , one in each corner of the bed to secure the last link in each chain to to the tie down point with the add-a-link thingy. Now with the length of chain running fore and aft the length of your bed, you have just about an endless amount of tie down options. Just make sure the chain you use , the links are big enough to except your tie down/strap hook. Rope and bungee ends are self-explainable. I have a Swing Case tool-box in the rear left corner of the bed and I'm finishing up with some custom work and will the be installing a Weather-Guard Cross Box shortly. That chain clears everything 'cause you can make it as taunt or loose as needed depending where your put the strap. In the photo with the chain draped OVER the wheel-well, if'n you pulled it in and upward direction, directly centered over the wheel-well. It comes up just to the bottom of the bed rail. Works great with the Spider Bed-Web. Multiple points to stretch that biatch.

It'll hold multiple corn-dogs too.

I'll be out doing some work on the truck today, I'll get a couple of pics of the swing case for ya. I have a drop in bed liner so there was some "hacking" to be done per instruction and prior experiences. A spray-in is in the plans. There are "dimples" in the rear bed upright that the swing case uses as reference points to self tap the mounting hardware. I found these in the past to be too low making the case just brush to close to the bed floor. You can't load a 4x8 sheet of plywood flat because of the case. So if you have no intentions or do have a topper or bed cover ( which you could still mount the case to your desired floor clearing height without top lid interference, you have to plan ahead), I slid the mounting swing bracket higher than the instructions called for. Everything still works and I can get 4x8 whatevers under the case and loaded flat.
