I've had a Rove R2-4K in the truck since 2021 and it's worked flawlessly the entire time, very reliable and awesome company & support. Last week the wife saw the new Rove R2-4K Dual cam for 1/2 off ($100) so she bought it. Real nice large screen, can toggle between front and rear for the main screen. Has Sony Starvis 2 and is super clear.

The previous Rove used a mini usb power cable which I plugged into a dongle in the giant box behind the mirror so I had to get a 6" mini usb to usb C cable as i wasn't about to remove that damn thing again.

Ran the cable under the windshield headliner, around the driver side trim and pillars, most was easy tucking in with fingers. Did pull back the front pillar to make it easier. Only real issue was the extra 7 feet of cable, bundled and tucked it behind the rear seat belt trim in the rear. Was intending to mount it on the driver's sid rear window, after I ran the cable remembered the sliding window, doh! Had to run the cable across the back to the passenger side, oh well. Still need to do the windshield mount, stupid suction cups fall off smh.

The old one is now continuing life in her CRV and she's happy, may have been her motive all along.

I picked up the same camera during the sale as well. How did you power it from the mirror ?

Riveyman I bought an adapter from Dongar, plugs in between an existing harness in the cover on the windshield behind the mirror. It provides a usb cable to plug the dash cam usb cable into. Only issue is getting that damn cover off, mine was a pain and broke it, had to get a new one. Others though have had no issues. You'll also need a short usb C cable to the camera. I got a 9" one of Amazon.

Just a note that most units allow you to flip the image in the rear camera. This allows you to mount the camera "upside down" so it is closer to center line on the truck.

Yeah I'm aware, this one however does not. But the visual difference between flipping vs not flipping is so minor it's not worth worrying about. Drove it yesterday, the rear cam has a 140 degree field of view and i can see everything.

Stand corrected, out of curiosity I emailed support and low and behold they stated there is a setting to rotate video to get the best picture, would have helped if that was in the manual. Not sure if it will help or not to do so as I'm already way offset due to the sliding window. Maybe, we'll see

Thanks, I ordered the adapter from Dongar but from Amazon w/ free shipping.

As you say, it's not a huge difference, but it is a difference. When I installed mine I placed the camera lens as close to the truck's centerline as I could which in my case was nearly four inches (length of camera body plus wires).

Thanks for posting about Dongar... hadn't heard of them before. I especially like the device lets you choose between ignition power, timed or continuous.

These are nice dash cams, what you get vs what you pay makes them a great deal. No they are not sleek and low profile like some others but if you don't mind that they are a great buy. They also have a hardwire kit that offers adjustable battery voltage protection if you want to enable the parking mode. Very well thought out system. I also added their polarized CPL filter that screws over the front lens to cut the glare at the windshield, makes a big difference in clarity and for $20 was worth it.
