Initial impressions on your new HD RAM - likes and dislikes, new to RAM Trucks

My 2019 fluttered like crazy, my 2021 doesn't flutter at all. Don't know why

My 2022 Laramie hood doesn’t flutter. Definitely agree that it’s hot or miss….

It's been almost 3 weeks and I'm very happy with it. My other truck is 15 years old so the technology is night and day.

Pros: Exterior/interior looks and lighting, leather vented seats, adjustable cluster, smooth transmission, power, roomy center storage console, auto start and keyless entry, power adjustable and folding mirrors. My other truck you can't power fold or power adjust the little mirror. Shifts in and out of 4hi relatively quick. The ability to personalize the settings and functions of the vehicle.

Cons: Rain sensing wipers, turn signal/high beams/wiper controls all in one. I really hate this. My other truck has a separate control with more functionality. Not a big deal but would much prefer an vertical rear sliding window instead of horizontal. Clunking in the rear when I hit some bumps, almost as if the spare tire is loose or something else. Keep forgetting to look under there. Didn't come with bed liner. The Uconnect screen is too bright when I'm in the vehicle with the exterior lights off. There might be an adjustment but I haven't figured it out yet.

That's all I can think of right now.

I forgot to mention that I F'n love the rearview camera when backing up to the trailer!

I've had my truck since June 20th and currently have 4400 miles on it. I've owned multiple Fords and a few GMs so I am new to Ram (other than the 1992 Dakota my dad had when I was a kid!). I love just about everything about this truck, I'll list a few high points below.

Pros:
-Fuel economy with Cummins engine. I have averaged around 21 MPG since I brought it home. Best tank was driving from SW Arkansas to Memphis, TN averaging 75 MPH. I was close to 23 mpg at that point.
-Beautiful interior. The brown/tan two tone in my Laramie model is such a good combo. All displays are sharp and crisp and very customizable.
-Comfortable ride. I previously had a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT with the Duramax and it rode incredibly well, but this one is just as good.

Cons:
-Rattly console. I need to put some felt pieces where the center console meets the dash as it rattles frequently and can be stopped by putting pressure where they meet.
-Auto headlights are neurotic. We have them on our Honda Pilot and have had them on a Ford F150. These are the worst. I just turned that setting off and I am good to go now.
-Bed is difficult to get into when I'm in anything other than work clothes. I should have gotten the retractable bumper step when I ordered it - so I think I'll add it.
-While the fold out cargo floor is nice, the flat floor in my Ford and almost flat floor in my GMC were easier to deal with. I'll live, but this is just an observation.

Overall, I am extremely impressed by this truck. My best friend has the 2016 equivalent and he's very impressed by the upgrades to the newer models as well.

I'm waiting on the 3500 Laramie with the Mountain Brown. Love that interior.

Are you in a 2500 or 3500? SRW, DRW?

Air conditioning and fan speed on max is absolutely terrible. AC doesn't blow cold until about 10 minutes of driving and the "high" fan setting is so weak. Otherwise truck has been fine.

100% agree on the fan speed. For me, the temp of the air coming out of the vents is plenty cool, but the fan doesn’t move enough volume of air.

100%. ~ 13 miles to town on the highway. This 2022 doesn't begin to cool off until I'm 1 or 2 miles from town.
vs. Hop in my Tahoe and the freezing cold air blows after about one mile...and it blasts in my face when set on 71F (pretty much every car I've ever owned actually has air conditioning... this Laramie - doesn't.) My legs sweat the whole day. I'm not feeling much of anything from the "ventilated" seat and setting anything but "LO" and it doesn't even know it's 128F inside the vehicle. I prefer 71...but this truck has to be set at 64F to make 71.

It's disappointing to hear that the 2022s still have poor air conditioning. I've been exhaustively researching 1-ton trucks and I'm between the RAM 3500 and F-350. There's so much I like about the RAM, but I live in a hot humid area and A/C can be a dealbreaker. That's the biggest hold-up for me right now. Ford has great A/C and I love the driving feel of the PowerStroke, but RAM has the Cummins, air suspension, nicer interior, and mega cab.

My A/C is actually much better than it was in my 19' Ram 1500 and I have noticed in the 40 degree Celsius weather we have been having that the truck is cooled down in under 2 mins and I do not need to keep it on max to keep the cabin cool. I feel like it is no longer something I can complain about. Plus, if you remote start a few minutes before hand, I feel like you will be happy. I would recommend you test drive one and feel the A/C if possible or just go with your gut and get the Ram. It is an awesome truck and gets cold enough for me and I like it cold.

I would agree with this, I dont have an older ram to compare to but I have never had issues with the AC getting cold enough. The ventilated seats are pretty meh but the AC itself blows cold, quickly.

No issues with my 2022 mega cabs AC. Blows nice and cold.
