Individual wheel braking?

In my 2021 3500 I noticed what seemed like automated braking of individual wheels when in 4L.
I was climbing a fairly steep bare dirt hill, and negotiating a right turn as I broke over a ridge of dirt, leaving most of the weight of the rig on the right front and left rear tires. I was going very slow, and the tires which were "light" started to slip for a moment until it seemed that the pickup applied the brakes on the spinning wheels. The pickup surged forward a few feet, but started spinning again, and seemed to repeat the process.
Just out of curiosity, I tried the hill again in 4H, but it would simply spin out and go no further. I am sure that I could have climbed the hill in 4H with some speed, but it wouldn't do it just crawling along.
If what I think was happening (automatic individual braking in 4L), I was totally unaware that these trucks have that feature.
Anyone else experience this?

Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
Traction Control System (TCS) - includes Brake Limited Differential (BLD)
Electronic Roll Mitigation (ERM)

As I understand it ESC, TCS, and ERM will all control wheel spin. Throw in BLD and it's a complex system.

ESC can be partially or fully disabled in 4LO.

Press the traction control button once for partial disable (less torque management on diesel), press and hold for 5 seconds for full disable while stopped. It will re-enable out of 4LO or aver 20MPH.

Thanks. Guess I should read the owner's manual.
BTW, mine is not a diesel, so I don't know if it would have torque management or not.

I think in 4 low all of those systems are disabled anyway, all except the brake lock differentials. In 4 high you can hold the traction control button to shut that stuff off until 40 mph when it turns back on. Unlike my 2014 my 2020 will shut it back off when you get back down to 20 mph I believe.
