Increasing rear axle payload

This is my method of upping the payload on my 2022 PW. I purchased a rear set of Metal CLoak game changer 3.5 inch lift coils for a 2500 diesel. These have a higher capacity than the stock PW springs and would end up adding about 1 inch of height. I cut the top coil off of the tighter winding area of the spring. After installing them they sit the fender well exactly where stock springs did but should now give me at least an extra 600 lbs. of capacity on the rear axle. I wanted to keep everything at stock levels and so far I am not noticing any difference in ride. I already have Bilstein 5160 shocks and Thuren track bars. IMG_6267(1).JPGIMG_6282(1).JPG

How does it ride? I did a similar setup with my front Thuren springs and it has worked well for me.

Unloaded length of new Metal Cloak is 19.5 less the 1 inch that I cut so now it should be 18.5. I will have to measure the old coils and let you know. I do have longer adjustable sway bar connecting rods from Carli to install today. I did not realize that Metal CLoak also offers adjustable sway bar links until after I ordered the Carli links.
So far I have not noticed any ride difference.

I only ask because I believe the PW springs are longer than the regular 2500 springs (because of factory raised ride height and longer extended length of oe shocks), so you don’t want to loose droop travel/have the springs fall out, or loose compression travel if the springs block out.

I measured the stock springs and they are 19 and 1/4 inches. I could have left the one spring loop on in hind site. The springs are actually supposed to give a 3.5 inch lift over a regular 2500 or a 1.5 inch lift over the power wagon since it has a 2 inch lift. Metal cloak also sell a 4.5 inch longer than stock spring. They say on the website that you actually get more droop with their springs and that is the need for longer sway bar links so the sway bar does not invert itself. Keep in mind I did not measure the actual metal spring but am just going off their website. The Bilstein 5160 shocks I have say they are good for up to a 1/2 lift on the rear shock for a power wagon so I was trying to stay within that so I would have no shock issues down the road. As I am sitting now it is almost identical to stock which is what I wanted.
