One of the things I miss in my 19 Tradesman that I had in my 11 1500 Big Horn is the in floor storage bins. While under the truck installing running boards this weekend, I saw this ( see photo) So this could be an easy install of the storage? Anyone know whats involved and/or have part numbers for the storage bins? Might there be a kit? Thanks in advance!

Yeah, it seems they did this for some sort of cost or weight issue...makes no sense. They should bolt in, anxious to hear if someone does this, as this is one reason I will be keeping my Tradesman over a new one for awhile...and the loss of the center floor console also has me confused.

On this same topic, has anyone switched theirs out for the locking variation? I’m curious if that kit is just a replacement lid, or if the entire storage bin is swapped out with something a little more secure?

Mine were factory installed, but here are some photos for reference.

Great pictures, looks to me that it will work. I also will have a 19 Tradesman and I am very interested in having this. One thing I really wish I was able to have in this trim. Can you see a part number on there at all and do the new trucks have on on each side? Thanks!

They are on both sides. Hard to read, but see if the attached helps.

Wow thank you so much. Im pretty sure I can make out all the numbers except one digit on the top but shouldn't be hard to figure out for my dealer. Thanks so much! Ill let everyone know what I find for asking about this. Only thing to worry about now is cutting the carpet correctly, going to be tough to destroy a new truck.

Honestly I just took a look on the website and I think all it is, is a mechanism that is swapped out so that you can lock it. May be wrong but the one picture is just keys and the mechanisms.

Install instructions:

I see that now as well. That's a bummer. The bins are just fiberglass. I don't see much point in putting a lock on something that is easily defeated from beneath. On my old truck I had a console vault beneath the middle seat in the front row, but they decided that was a good place to put a cd player now.

Pull the carpet up remove the panel then cut the carpet from underneath. Use the open hole as a pattern. I am interested as well I noticed those panels when doing my steps last week too!

it looks like -

5LF14TRMAA is the passenger side
1MG92TRMAA is the driver side.

a set is on flebay now for $200 / obo...

i'm definitely going to get a set soon.

Awesome! Thanks for posting guys! If unable to get from dealer, might be able to get from the boneyard.

I have no experience with this, but another option might be the "EXxtreme SUVault" https://www.lockerdown.com/i-131-ex...odge-ram-model-ld3039ex.html?ref=category:128.

I saw the review for the Tuffy lockable lid to replace the plastic one, and I wasn't sure the point of a metal lid for a plastic box that could be broken into without even getting in the truck first.

Can this install also be done on Mega Cabs? Does anybody know if the Mega Cabs have the panel underneath the carpet that can be removed? Thanks in advance!

I dont know off hand about the HDs but on the DT models all the cabs have that hole, weather it gets the boxes or not determines your carpet and hole cover / box. I would assume you could do what Flan said once you get the boxes.

Honestly you could just throw im a cam/mailbox lock and it would be fairly secure. Just drill a hole and cut a slot for the cam arm and should be good to go
